Hello,
I am applying for the MSN program in '15, due in December. I was wondering if anyone knew how much weight the GRE holds, in regards to being competitive? I am a little nervous about my scores not being competitive. Any advice will help!
Best regards,
Hi everyone!I applied to the Direct Entry CNM specialty for 2015 entry. Did everyone else receive an email about clinical placements? I never got one so I emailed Admissions to double check that they got all of the pieces of my application.
Ooh, thanks for contacting them! I applied for psych/mental health prescpecialty and didn't hear anything about clinical placements. Not sure if it's just certain groups or if it's a bad sign for us!
Hopefully not snoozyd! They have everything, and replied with "your application is complete and awaiting a decision".
I like seeing everyone's stats, I think it gives us a good idea of where we stand! I'll be graduating in December with a BA in Spanish, spent a semester studying in Spain, have around 700 hours as a tech in ICU/TU, volunteer as a sexual assault victim advocate, 157/157 and 4.5 on the GRE, 3.6 GPA.
I graduated back in 2011 with a BA in psych. My GPA is somewhere around 3.5. I have about 2 years full-time research experience, and 1 year full-time patient care experience at an acute psychotic disorders unit. I also have a strong personal link to psychotic disorders (several friends) which I emphasized in my application as my reason for picking my specialty and detailing my goals in the field. For GRE, I had 160 V and 156 Q with a 5 on AW.
I also have to wonder if legacy stuff actually helps, or if it only works that way if your family name is on a building? My mom got her MBA from Vanderbilt a while back. They ask for that info on the app but who knows. I feel like legacy stuff tends to be over-emphasized.
I also sent back a reply asking to keep my clinical placement within 2.5 hours. I am sure it's more competitive, but I dont see any other choice. As for my stats, my GPA is a 3.648. I will have a B.S. in public health and a BA in psychology with minors in biological sciences and nutrition. I have a year of research experience in the field of health psychology, and I have over 3 years of experience as an EMT. I had a 162 I verbal, 156 math, and 5 analytical writing. I am hoping that's good enough lol.
