  1. Yay! I got in! Anyone know when we hear about financial aid?
  2. I believe it said on the financial aid website that if you had not uploaded your IRS 2014 information directly to your FAFSA that they wanted a transcript. When I filed my taxes, they were not yet available to upload, so I just the transcript. If you had uploaded tax information, you should be fine.
  3. Yes, at least I filled it out and emailed it in. Also, because I filled out my fafsa before I could use my 2014 taxes, I had to send in an IRS transcript as well.
  4. Has anybody heard from the masters entry as of yet?
  5. I think GPAs/GRE scores really vary between everyone. I was accepted for Pediatric Nurse Practitioner: Acute Care Specialty. I had a 156 on Math, 162 on Verbal, and a 5 on Analytical Writing for the GRE. I am still completing my undergraduate education. My GPA is a 3.688 and I will be completing a B.S. in Public Health and a B.A. in Psychology with minors in Nutrition and Biological Sciences. I have over a year of research experience in health psychology and I have been an EMT for 5 years and volunteered on a local rescue squad for 3.5 years. I also am the vice president of a student organization that spreads awareness about eating disorders. I had a couple of internships in the public health field as well. My only work experience was my part-time position as an English tutor. All that being said, I felt very under-qualified when I met people applying for this program and other comparable programs. Some people were in the peace corp, volunteered internationally, worked in research labs, worked in various other fields, went to or declined acceptances to medical schools, worked in other healthcare positions, etc. So...don't use other people's experiences to justify your own qualifications. All you need to do is OWN what experience/interests you have and make sure your application (especially your essay and personal statements) reflect them.
  6. Congrats to those who were accepted since the first wave of decisions! I have decided to check out Nashville this month and I was wondering if any locals or even previous visitors can offer advice about where to visit to get the best idea of where I will be looking for apartments! Also, good luck to those who are waiting!
  7. I applied for the PNP and received an email that my status was updated last night, but I don't think anyone should worry about it yet. I admit I was at first pretty worried because of the whole undergraduate John Hopkins disaster that was all over the media yesterday. I was worried that the acceptance might have been a mistake. But I figure what are the chances Vanderbilt made the same mistake? lol.
  8. Unfortunately, the deadline to accept admission is January 30th. I am also waiting for Columbia, UPenn, Yale, Duke, and John Hopkins, which all release decisions after February. I am thinking about asking for an extension of a week or two, and if that isn't an option, I will pay the deposit and lose the $200 if I decide to go somewhere else. But I hear Nashville is really nice, and I am so relieved that I got in somewhere!
  9. Wow. After choosing to stay within 2.5 hours for clinicals, I am very happy that I was also accepted!
  10. Like a lot of you, I also heard that we should hear before the end of the month. I'm definitely getting more nervous!
  11. I applied for the primary pediatric care.
  12. I also sent back a reply asking to keep my clinical placement within 2.5 hours. I am sure it's more competitive, but I dont see any other choice. As for my stats, my GPA is a 3.648. I will have a B.S. in public health and a BA in psychology with minors in biological sciences and nutrition. I have a year of research experience in the field of health psychology, and I have over 3 years of experience as an EMT. I had a 162 I verbal, 156 math, and 5 analytical writing. I am hoping that's good enough lol.
  13. What do you plan on doing? I mean, I am okay with moving within the state I suppose. I could even work in a neighboring state so that I am within driving distance of Vanderbilt. But that isn't an option on the application. I currently live in New Jersey, and that's a 16 hour drive! I could not do that routinely. How much do you think it will impact the admission decisions?
  14. Has anybody received an email about the Clinical placement site selection on the application? I was asked if I would be flexible in choosing a clinical practice site in my home state or in anywhere in the United states instead of up to 2.5 hours from Vanderbilt campus. I am unsure how to respond, as I don't want to hurt my chances of being accepted, but because I am moving to Tennessee if I am accepted, moving again after only a year is not ideal. Has anyone else been asked to reconsider their clinical placement preferences and if so, what are you going to decide?
  15. Okay great. I recently purchased a nice blazer and pants, but a friend was explaining that medical school interviews recommend a nice suit set. I have heard graduate programs aren't as appearance-oriented as medical schools during the interview process, but now I have started questioning if I should purchase another outfit.
