Vanderbilt MSN 2015

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello,

I am applying for the MSN program in '15, due in December. I was wondering if anyone knew how much weight the GRE holds, in regards to being competitive? I am a little nervous about my scores not being competitive. Any advice will help!

Best regards,

I talked with someone in the Nursing Dept and they said that they hope to tell the Nov 1st people by late January about acceptance. A girl that graduated from my school in 2013 got word of her acceptance in mid-December so it could be even sooner! I'm worried that my writing score will completely exclude me from the running b/c from what i've been seeing, a 4.5 is the minimum...

Oooh i like hearing that i might get some news sooner than March! As for your AW score, I'm sure a 4 is fine. I spent ages worrying about my GRE scores but everyone on here seems to say the scores aren't going to do much unless you did very poorly. Especially if you have all that shadowing experience!

I am applying for FNP in 2015. I am a male applicant and I will be graduating from UGA in May 2015 with a BS in Human Development. My overall GPA will be a 3.4 and my major GPA will be a 3.8. I had a 153 Quant and 152 Verbal GRE. I am currently serving in a year long internship with an Alzheimer's and Dementia research and care facility. I am also going to be logging hours shadowing at a Gastroenterology clinic next spring. I have had several leadership roles over the years. I am applying to , Duke, Emory, and Florida. Vandy is my first choice. I applied for the early decision Nov. 1 deadline and the suspense is already killing me! I am so anxious to find out!

Hi everyone!

I was just wondering if anyone else applied to the Emergency NP program for 2015? I just barely got my application in before November 1st, but I'm really hoping I get accepted to Vanderbilt! I'm also applying to Duke, Columbia, Emory, and University of Texas-Houston. I don't think schools are really basing admission solely off of GPA and GRE scores anymore; they're looking for well-rounded individuals with experience and great essays. Good luck to everyone!

I think it would be awesome if we all found out that we got accepted right before Christmas. It would be an awesome holiday gift ;). However, I'm sure most of us won't get our notifications until sometime in January.

I was just wondering if anyone has gotten a phone interview?

I agree. :p I would LOVE to hear news soon...

Has anybody received an email about the Clinical placement site selection on the application? I was asked if I would be flexible in choosing a clinical practice site in my home state or in anywhere in the United states instead of up to 2.5 hours from Vanderbilt campus. I am unsure how to respond, as I don't want to hurt my chances of being accepted, but because I am moving to Tennessee if I am accepted, moving again after only a year is not ideal. Has anyone else been asked to reconsider their clinical placement preferences and if so, what are you going to decide?

Not yet :nailbiting: I know I need one for psych. I know UR has started their phone interviews, and I know Yale won't notify anyone until December. Anyone have any idea when we might hear? I may have researched this before but now that I'm past the deadline I'm forgetting all the details.

Yes, I received that too. I'm not too sure how to respond because I live in California and I can't just move back and go to campus four or fives times a year...

What do you plan on doing? I mean, I am okay with moving within the state I suppose. I could even work in a neighboring state so that I am within driving distance of Vanderbilt. But that isn't an option on the application. I currently live in New Jersey, and that's a 16 hour drive! I could not do that routinely. How much do you think it will impact the admission decisions?

I don't know. I replied anyway saying that I will choose the second option listed in the email and try to find a place to live outside of middle TN. I don't think I'll mind moving within the state like you suggested, or even going to a close by neighboring state, but I don't know how that will work out. :/

Personally I think we have to be flexible during the specialty year, otherwise this might not have a good impression on us... I dunno :(
