Hey guys!
Vandy's application opens tomorrow! I am so anxious to start the application. There is a Pre-Specialty thread already started so I want to start this one for direct entry. Post questions, comments, experiences, and anything else. Good luck everyone! You've got this!
I'm wondering about clinical placement! I took my NCLEX in Virginia but am from New York and was considering moving back home. Who knows which states are eligible? I'm also considering Florida and California. I'm a new grad without a family so I could move anywhere, whenever. Also Army Reserve but I can transfer or attend drill in other states. I wouldn't mind moving to TN near the Vanderbilt campus if it meant I had a better chance of admission! This is my #1 choice program.

This is what I found for New York State on the website.

I am applying to the PNP Primary care as well! It's good to hear from someone! What is your background? Have you applied anywhere else!?

Have you finish your application and just waiting for a decision? I haven't finished my application and I'm afraid I they might close it soon

what is your work and school history like? I only have 1-year peds experience and kinda messed up during college, GPA is less than 3. Hoping I could get in. Do you know what is Vanderbilt's acceptance rate and how many students they accept per specialty?

I’m glad to know of another person! I worked with adults for 9 years in Heme/Onc, Neuro/Ortho surgical, and general surgery. Then I took a 6 1/2 yr break when I had my 4th kids, but for the past 2 years I’ve worked at a specialty care hospital for kids and realized this is what I want to do.
I applied to a local school in Pittsburgh. They only have an FNP program, but I really want PNP.

I actually am a new grad. I had a career change and went through an accelerated MSN program. I have a job at Cincinnati Children's in the BMT unit. I have a 3.8 GPA in the MSN program so I'm hoping that it will help with the no experience! I'm not sure how many students they accept each year. Have you turned in your application yet?

You have a great work history! I am with you on wanting to do PNP. I am from Cincinnati. I have three kiddos so in that with you! I am still applying to a few other schools. I am actually a new grad. I just graduated from an accelerated MSN program. I am hoping my GPA will help with the no experience part! I don't know! We should find out soon!

Congrats on choosing nursing! I worked BMT with adults and love that area. I can’t imagine kids going though all of that. Your GPA is excellent. While looking through comments from previous years, they definitely admit new grads. I think my GPA was 3.54. Because of having a family I am opting for the part time program. Stay in touch and let me know what happens. My application was submitted by the early entry deadline. They emphasized the importance of your personal statement and goals lining up with your chosen program. Somewhere I saw the admit 15-20ish people into the PNP program.

I can't remember exactly but there is a link somewhere on the site to an exit survey from the students and it has those numbers (how many surveys were sent and how many were filled out).
