Hello fellow school nurses!
Do you do anything special for Valentine's Day in your office? I am an elementary school nurse (1 month and going strong!?) and Valentine's Day was always my favorite day at school as a child--getting to decorate a card box, pass out cards, bring candy, etc. I do not want to totally ignore V Day but I know I am an adult and they will have enough fun amongst themselves without my participation. At the same time, I have quite a few children for whom my office is a regular part of their day and I would like to add something to it.
I realize candy, stickers, etc, would not be appropriate as I do not want to encourage health office visits for anything other than wellness needs. (It is already such a popular place and I wouldn't want any little ones coming bc they want to receive this or that thing, as much as I do adore them.)
So I am wondering what if anything you wise & experienced nurses would suggest! Thank you! Happy Valentine's Day in advance

I have a "treat jar" on my desk year round. Its for my kids that come to get meds on time, bring back their icepacks, etc. Normally it has goldfish in it, but I'll change it up for holidays. Around Halloween I had candy corn. Last week I put Valentine candy hearts in it. I limit it two 2 per kid since like you said - its candy. I thought about getting cute valentines for my med kids that I see all the time, but didn't want to be thought of as playing favorites or treating certain kids differently. So I just went with the candy hearts.

I have a jar full of little erasers that I put out for holidays. I can usually pick them up in the Target dollar section.

Our valentine's parties were last week. I had a cup with pencils on my desk. I gave my regulars a pencil when they came in for their dailies. Elementary school here

Valentine party at the end of the day; but judging from the boisterous energy they have this morning, teachers beware.

I'm the laid back nurse and I say boo hoo to cavities and eat all the damned candy they want! Plus I get candy as a gift too so that's the plus. xD
