Valencia College Summer 2020

Published

Hi everyone!

I wanted to start a thread for anyone who’s applying for the traditional nursing program at Valencia for the summer :)! That way we can give one another updates, or anyone with helpful tips who ALREADY got admitted for spring!

Thanks!

Hi! I had a 4.0 GPA and an average TEAS score but honestly from what I’ve heard, those doesn’t matter as long as you meet the requirements, your good! Of course it helps with yourself and it helps to push you to do even better. I’m sure your gonna rock the last of your prerequisites!

4.0 on all prerequisites and an 86 on the TEAS. It doesn’t matter though, as long as you meet the minimums. Good luck. It just takes awhile to be accepted. Apply as early as you can. Good luck. I’m sure you will do fine.

Hello everybody! My name is Juan and I just applied to Valencia College because I want to become a Registered Nurse. I have a bachelors degree in Business Administration but I want to go to get the AS in Nursing at Valencia. This pandemic made me realize how important is to have a Plan B just in case I lose my job.

I was looking at the requirements and it seems that I have to take some courses before I can apply for the program. The requisites are A&P I and II, Microbiology, Develop. Psychology and Nutrition. I already took Gen. Psy, Freshman Comp. and the Humanities when I completed my bachelors. Hopefully they will let me transfer them.

I read all your post (yes, all of them) and you guys keep mentioning TEAS. I really want to get in and it seems that the key here is applying early.

I am planning to take Dev. Psy and Nutrition now in the Summer, then next Fall take Microbiology and A&P 1, then take A&P II in the Spring. I would take A&P in the Summer but they are full.

I need your advice on acing TEAS and when to apply.

Congratulations to those who got accepted. ?

Be well and stay safe.

Hello there! For Valencia you only have to get above a 63 or I think it’s a 64 on the TEAS to get into the program. Valencia sells the ATI TEAS book but I’m sure you can get it other places but this book is the exact book from the actual website that you take the exam on so it covers everything exactly the way the exam goes. I would definitely get that book I’m sure you can find it on the TEAS website and then get it cheaper on amazon or something. But personally I would suggest taking the TEAS exam right after A&P2 because the science portion of the exam covers a lot of very specific things that you learn in that class. So you would most likely be more successful with that information fresh. I’ll try and find the book so I can tell you the exact name.

Hi Juan,

Don’t take the TEAS until you have all of your sciences done. Also review your English before testing by using the practice books.
You are about a year out from applying for the Nursing program. Then Valencia has been averaging a 2 semester wait to get in.

This pandemic has messed a lot of us up. Good luck! Just stick to your plan.

Hey girls.

What you all think about the AdventHealth university nursing program? It's a BSN. Do you know if it's good?

I know you're a shoe-in for their hospital if you graduated from there.

Hello,

I can tell you that I looked at their program and was going to go through it. However, when I looked up their NCLEX passing percentage against Seminole State and Valencia, it wasn't worth it. Plus the cost was extremely high as they are private. Also, no one is a "shoe-in" for getting hired. I've talked with their nurses and it doesn't matter if you went to AH or anywhere else. What matters is if they like you and you know your stuff. When you are on the floor, they watch trust me.

Hope this helps!

Y’all!!

I apparently was conditionally accepted to the Summer program but NEVER saw because it was during the midst of the corona virus. :( I was sick during that time and figured I wouldn’t have gotten anything after I checked my email for weeks looking (then the corona virus stuff cancelled school and stuff). I’m hoping that means I’ll be accepted to the fall program, I got the email the week after Spring break when school was being pushed off, plus the Summer program was pushed to fall anyways. AGH.

Oh No, that’s around the time they accepted me too! Did you email them and let them know you didn’t see it?
