Valencia College Summer 2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Hi everyone!

I wanted to start a thread for anyone who’s applying for the traditional nursing program at Valencia for the summer :)! That way we can give one another updates, or anyone with helpful tips who ALREADY got admitted for spring!

So Seminole state announced that they will be suspending their Summer ASN program till fall. So curious to see what Valencia decides and I want to know sooner. I feel like Valencia is always last second and later than all the other schools with announcing stuff.

Valencia's nursing program is still transition forward and all of the students are still moving to the next classes. As for the new incoming students, we still haven't heard anything or know what they plan on doing.

I think it is great that you guys have been continuing. Have you guys been doing things mostly online? I am stressing about whether they will be allowing us to start this Summer. I have been looking forward to this for so long. I do feel that Valencia is taking their time to make the best decision, and I appreciate that. I am glad they are waiting for more information. Fingers crossed.

I don’t know exactly where they announced it I just know because I have a friend I work with that got accepted to their concurrent program with UCF and Seminole state emailed him saying they’re suspending their ASN program to fall and he had to reaccept his seat for the fall term and everything. But it may be on their website if you look it up on Google.

Thanks for getting back with me. I've tried to find anything regarding this and I just can't. I think it's a good idea considering the hospitals will not be taking nursing students over the Summer and virtual labs/sims just aren't the same thing as hands on experience.

I wonder what will happen to the students that applied for fall? Will they be pushed back to another semester?

Thanks! I wonder if their current nursing students will remain online throughout the Summer? I hate online and I'm not enjoying studying nursing this way. There is no hands on. I would much rather delay a semester than continue on like this.

I did want to show this just in case anyone hasn't seen it and offer my apologies for this unfortunate circumstance. To make someone feel better, from my personal experience, Nursing 1 is definitely not something that needs to be done online, in any way. It's one of your MOST hands on semesters, and everything happens for a reason and I'm sure this decision was made in an effort to protect and benefit you guys at all costs. Remember the end goal, and that you'll be a nurse regardless. Keep pushing and keep your motivation and heads high. This will also give you more time to prepare, and taking Nursing 1 in Fall will be a lot more manageable than Nursing 1 over the Summer, ( I did take it over the Summer and everything is literally a blur). Hey Everyone.

For the people that got accepted to the program, would you mind sharing TEAS scores, GPA, Etc.

I have one more year left of my prereqs which is my science classes basically. ?

I am super nervous about these last classes. I know I have to give it all, in order to even have a chance in the application.

Best of luck to everyone going for the program. ??
