Hello!

I was just curious - has anyone else applied to for the VA HPSP scholarship this year? Specifically, the PMHNP track!

BSN and just submitted today. My school would not fill out the academic verification until I finished my last course. I filled out my application and got my recommendation letters in May. 

Applications are on a rolling basis and I think this "season" ends in September, so you definitely have a shot! I will say that, in our town hall meeting, they did mention that the scholarship is much more competitive than previous years (something like going from a 90% acceptance rate down to a 10-15%). I, however, don't know if that was specific to either NP or BSN or just the stats of both combined.

Is anyone interested in having a facebook group for HPSP recipients/applicants? I'm a PMHNP student in the program now and feel like it would be great to network and share questions/experiences with other recipients, since a lot of relevant info isn't readily available online. I've seen a facebook group for VA HPSP med students/physicians, but nothing for PMHNP or BSN.  If anyone would like to join, here's a link for a FB I've created (or you can search for VA HPSP (Nursing) on FB):

Congrats for your selection! I’m still waiting my final decision. Now that you have been selected, what’s next? How much longer do you have in school before you graduate?

Once I was accepted, had to do the background check, fingerprinting, fill out vendor forms, etc. We also had a meeting for all nursing scholarship recipients to ask questions and talk about residency. 

My program starts this year and is a little over two years!

Did anyone get "alternate" status and was selected off of it later?

I submitted my application 4 days ago and I logged in to the portal and saw alternate status. I emailed ------------------------- and he said they will take a second look at my application for fall/Spring. I'm praying everyday T-T.

Hi! I was also placed on alternate status and have been praying for it everyday. Good luck to you!!

I just checked it today and saw alternate status. The last I checked was 2 days ago, and it said application packet scored.

Ah! Thank you. That's about the same timeframe as my application. The last time I checked was the day I submitted July 8th, and I checked it was alternate status today. I can't believe it was so fast, I didn't even see the packet-scored status. I only wished I could've submitted it in May T_T.
