Yes I wrote a LOCI. I got off the wait-list within 2 weeks. I emailed it to the nursing general email and portal and admission officers ...but also the dean's...as well. Included why I wanted to go to Emory, researched about Emory's and the nursing school history and culture. Etc. Show them that you did your research.

Emory BSN Transfer Fall 2023
Hey everyone! Those who have decided to attend Emory and got the official acceptance to the school of nursing for fall 2023, please let me know if you are interested in the Veterans Affair programs (VANAP, HPSP, VA-STEP). Not sure if I can display my email but it's : [email protected] if not just contact me via pm. Step 1. VANAP- specialized veteran centered education with small cohort and clinical in the VA. Like 4-8 people depending on how many people applied for the program. Step 2. HPSP- Scholarship- full tuition covered (tuition, fees etc), monthly stipend (~$1180), yearly textbook costs ~$1180. Step 3. VALOR (recently name changed to VA-STEP)- Summer externship and opportunity to continue throughout the year in your senior year. Pay in my opinion was awesomely awesome like realllllllllly awesome. Please let me know if you are interested and I will share more information about it with you and connect you to my program director. Basically you will receive veteran specialized education (VANAP) and may get your tuition covered with monthly stipend and textbook (HPSP) and also better chances at getting an externship at the VA (VALOR/VA-STEP) extern. 400 hours externship in the Summer and also throughout your senior year!! VANAP and VA-STEP both have interviews. And HPSP you will need to fill out applications with recommendations letters/essays, no interviews so far that I know.

Emory transfer BSN 2022
Please email me using your .edu and I will send you the information and forward you to the VANAP director. My email: [email protected] If you are interested, please email me asap as they are looking to the fill spots asap. But it is a very good experience and I cannot be more grateful to the VA. I am attending Emory tuition free, with a stipend of around $1183 each month, and they also gave me another 1k for textbook/supply each year. And also got an externship at the VA and the pay rate is awesome. Like not even joking awesome. Last year they got paid like $25 an hour and if I'm not reading my offer letter wrong (hopefully not), it's around $29 this year. But I'll know for sure once I start orientation next month and I'll update it here for future references for others later next month. But it's still higher compared to 2 other hospitals around here. Anyway I applied for the VANAP first then once I interviewed and got accepted I immediately apply for HPSP scholarship mid July and got my offer in about a week. I listed my experience in the VA hpsp thread last year that you can take a look at as well. And then applied for VALOR Spring semester and got extern offer in about 2-3 weeks after interviewing. But the interviews are pretty chill and I'm not the most talkative person .

I also agree with you that scholarships are out there in doves and you just got to search, search, and search every single website you have and keep a journal of it and/or bookmark it. And networking is very important. But I do agree with the previous comments that while there are lots of scholarships out there, there is NOT a lot of info about VA HPSP or Nurse Corps. I haven't come across them using those available on Google (bold.org, niche, scholly, fastweb, cappex, and lots of others). I applied to almost 150 scholarships during April-June. (A little too late and should've applied starting Jan/Feb). Got semi-finalist on some of those $1000 and $2000 scholarships but in the end, got ghosted/didn't win. I've only found out about VA HPSP and Nurse corps by emailing my college's dean and ask for help because I cannot afford 55k a year on tuition and I, as a married+transfer student, could not qualify for most institutional aid. So I could only get pell grant + state grant and a university grant. So I still need to pay about 40k each year. And that was when they told me to do apply to these 2 scholarships. And out of my 150 scholarship applications, I've only got 3 offers. I had a backup plan, which was to stay in my current program if I cannot get to my dream program because it's way, way cheaper. Yes, there's a lot of scholarships and websites out there, but unfortunately, the competition is too much. What I recommend is: 1) Apply for many different programs and compare/contrast the cost. Have a backup in case your dream program is way too costly. State universities are way cheaper than private ones. Some job benefits include tuition reimbursement too! I've heard Walmart, target, starbucks etc offer them too. 2) Apply for scholarships early on and also apply for local scholarships (most winners locally compared to nationwide). Start with locals where the competition is low. And by that, I mean it with 147+ rejections/ghosting. None of those big-name scholarship program awarded me. Not even those with $250 or $500 scholarships. I also recommend applying to your university scholarships that are only available for your school. Very low competition. I was offered one with $10k which I had to decline since I was offered the HPSP. Ask, ask, and ask for more information from your program. 3) Email everyone in your college that is related to your program. Financial aid office, academic advisor, professors, and your deans! My financial aid officer didn't even tell me about hpsp/nurse corp, they told me "sorry, apply for private loans". In the future, I plan to create a blog/Youtube/titok with my journey in applying for scholarships this past few months. I've learned a lot and will love to pass on this information. And I hope others will too, so that awareness in these programs will increase!

I pray that you will get it in Spring 2022! I would also just keep checking the portal every week or every 2 weeks just in case. I applied in July and also emailed and asked if it's too late to be considered for Fall and they said I would possibly be considered for Spring 2022. I thought all hopes were lost for Fall funding. But dear lord blessed me and I got the offer for Fall a few days later. Keep your heads up!

It is 2 years of service obligation (I'm a BSN student and needing 2 years of funding. It might be different for other professions. But they do make you do a 1-year residency (it's guaranteed placement). But I think a lot of hospitals want residency these days and you don't need to compete with other applicants for the spot. So residency + 2 years service= 3 years. But you can get more detail/clarification for the program director/specialist on the contact us page. Edit: I originally thought it would be 2.5 years of service obligation, but it's just 2 years for me.

BSN, I was offered a scholarship from the VA HPSP, which is basically the same as the Nurse Corps (tuition+fees+stipend). (But it's tax-free, guarantee residency, and I believe if I heard it correctly during the meeting job placement after graduation (I think we would get our preference of where we want to apply/work and if we cannot find one, then they will arrange for us to work in a location in critical need of nurses- *****but I may be wrong**** and will depend on the circumstances). One plus is the timeframe, from an application submitted to getting a tentative offer was about 8 days for me in July. And about 3 weeks for the final offer (background checks, fingerprint etc). I will need to work for the VA for 2 years after my residency. (No army or military or active duty) I recommend if anyone hasn't heard anything from the Nurse Corp to try applying for the VA. I think it's still accepting applications.

VA HPSP 2021
No problems! Just keep checking the portal every day/every other day! They told me they'd potentially consider me for Spring, but I got the offer for Fall! I think there should be a contact us page on the VA. I emailed the program director and specialist. I tried to include their names here but was edited out by the admins before.
