VA HPSP 2021

Hello!

I was just curious - has anyone else applied to for the VA HPSP scholarship this year? Specifically, the PMHNP track!

Well I can tell you it was severely unorganized and significant lack of communication. After receiving the list of possible placements, we submitted our top to bottom choices. After several months of no updates my wife reached out to the cooridinator, he said all the spots were filled and had no answers, but suggested she reach out to the facilities and see if they will take her (keep in mind, this is his job). We finally got placement after emailing a facility directly... But the fun doesn't end there. They are very unorganized, don't really seem to know what paperwork needs to be done, and we were delayed because facility errors. All in all, my wife will start soon, but it has not been without its hurdles.

?That sounds like my worst nightmare. I'm glad that it sounds like she finally got everything arranged.

They already screwed up my scholarship start date. I had to fight for them to recognize the date listed on the signed "Final Agreement" document. (They originally agreed to cover my Summer courses but instead insisted that the scholarship did not start until the fall and refused to pay my Summer tuition.) Can't wait to see what's next.

On a side note, when did they offer the residency sites? I want to be prepared and not get left in the dark. When does/did the residency begin? (I want to plan a family vacation.)
