UWOSH Accelerated Nursing May 2016 Cohort

U.S.A. Wisconsin

Published

Hi guys. Wanted to start a topic/thread for those applying into the May 2016 cohort, now that the application has opened. Has anyone else noticed on the application that the 2 recommendations are no longer required? Thought this was interesting.

As for me, I'm getting ready to take the TEAS V (Aug 1st) and finishing my CNA course next week with the state exam in August. I have a few months of CNA experience in a long term adult care facility and just got a job as a CNA at a local pediatric long term care facility, which I'm looking forward to since this is the area of nursing I hope to focus on after graduating (peds.) I graduated from the Univ of Pittsburgh back in 2001 with a dual BS in Psych and Business and did most of my post bach work in clinical psych (inpatient, outpatient, step down, peds again..) Applied and was accepted to PA school back in 2002 but decided that being a PA wasn't exactly what I wanted to do so waited, got married, had kids yada yada. Here I am, mid 30s, 2 young boys, applying into UWOSH. How about you? Say hi and introduce yourself so we can get to know one another during this ride. :) :)

I'm excited. I just finished up my CNA and was just put on the registry recently. I was very surprised that I was even considered! If they are wrapping things up around the first week of November, then we shouldn't be waiting long to find out acceptances/denials. A little about myself. I am from Wisconsin, 23 years old, and just graduated from UW La Crosse with a Biomedical science degree. I also just finished CNA and personal training too haha. I think it is very interesting that we are all coming from different areas of the states! :)

It is nice to have some new people on here! Nice to meet all of you!

They seemed pretty confident when I had my interview that they would make a decision by late November.

Grenledgal, I think your interview was today right? How did it go?

I had my interview this afternoon. They were very nice and I think overall it went well. I was surprised how nervous I was and how structured the format was. Not that I expected a "chat" but it was very formal.

They did say they had until Dec 30th but to check UWOSH emails daily, especially around Thanksgiving. Deposit is due within 30 days of notification of acceptance.

SO glad that's over with! Now we just wait!!

And hi to the newcomers! Very nice to see new cyber-faces. :)

Glad it went well Grenledgal! I am sure you did great! They told me the same thing about December 30th, but she said it was looking more like late November this time around.

The waiting makes me nuts.

I'm glad they are going well for you! End of November? That would be awesome!

So does anyone have any idea how many applicants there are?

Hey Jamie! I graduated from Winona State 2 years ago…. right across the river….Small world! haha

So does anyone have any idea how many applicants there are?

Aje, I'm not sure. But I'd love to know as well!

Haha yes! Not far at all. I actually worked in Winona for awhile :)

I can't find it right now (in a rush to get my boys together before heading to class--last CNA class!) but I just wrote my husband an email about it last week. That was easier to find.

"for the October 2015 cohort the info packet went out in June for the students. (looked on my nursing forum)

their on campus dates (subject to change were):

9/18-9/20 for orientation

1/3-1/17 for first lab/clinical

9/26-7/10 for capstone"

**obvious mistype for the capstone dates but you get the idea.

Hope that helps. Maybe as their classes get closer to starting, someone will post more finalized dates.

This was me. Yes, the capstone is 9/26 to 10/7 for my cohort. Sorry about that.

As for wanting a schedule, you should get a tentative schedule when you are offered admission so that you know the dates you are committing to.

Did not read through this whole thread but just saw that and remembered I was the one who posted it. From the last page you all sound very anxious! I wish you all good luck!

Any advice for the interviews MMG_2012?

I had my phone interview this afternoon and it wasn't bad. The ladies were very welcoming and easy to interact with. I have to say I'm impressed with the fluidity of their process. I had an online/phone interview with another school and the technology made the whole process very chaotic. For those of you who had it this week, how did it go?
