Hi guys. Wanted to start a topic/thread for those applying into the May 2016 cohort, now that the application has opened. Has anyone else noticed on the application that the 2 recommendations are no longer required? Thought this was interesting.
As for me, I'm getting ready to take the TEAS V (Aug 1st) and finishing my CNA course next week with the state exam in August. I have a few months of CNA experience in a long term adult care facility and just got a job as a CNA at a local pediatric long term care facility, which I'm looking forward to since this is the area of nursing I hope to focus on after graduating (peds.) I graduated from the Univ of Pittsburgh back in 2001 with a dual BS in Psych and Business and did most of my post bach work in clinical psych (inpatient, outpatient, step down, peds again..) Applied and was accepted to PA school back in 2002 but decided that being a PA wasn't exactly what I wanted to do so waited, got married, had kids yada yada. Here I am, mid 30s, 2 young boys, applying into UWOSH. How about you? Say hi and introduce yourself so we can get to know one another during this ride. :) :)
I figured they wouldn't want it discussed and I wouldn't have anyway, but I thought it was interesting they said it. I am not sure why anyone would want to share since it would give the other person an advantage. So I just thought it was weird they would need to say it.
Good luck to both of you!
Hello everyone! I am also applying for the May 2016 Cohort…Glad to stumbled upon this and connect with others applying! I have a phone interview next Thursday as well!
Welcome Jerbear! So what's your story? Where are you from and what brings you to applying for nursing school?
What time do you have your interview next Thursday?
I am from Minneapolis and I graduated about 2 years ago with an Bachelors Exercise Science/Cardiac Rehab degree. And I currently work as a Rehab technician at the University of MN. I just got a CNA job starting in August at a Memory Care home to meet the requirements. So that doesnt give me much "CNA" experience but sometimes I perform CNA-like duties at my work so I hope they see that. I also completed an exercise physiology internship and got an 92% on the TEAS. Hopefully being a male also helps ha! I have the interview next thursday at 130 pm Im so nervous!!

Most of us are in a similar boat in terms of the CNA experience. As I understand it their expectations regarding the CNA experience are a reflection of that year's applicants experience as a whole. So if last year's applicants had a lot of CNA experience as whole then they were more strict. Hopefully that makes sense :)
It sounds like you're similarly qualified as the rest of us on this bulletin. I have my interview next Thursday at 2:30 PM so you're before more! I'm naturally nervous too but it sounds like it's been pretty low key from what I understand. Good luck!
I am glad I stumbled upon this this thread too! I just found out I got an interview this morning, so it's been an exciting day so far! :) I wish everyone luck on their interviews as well! :)
Welcome Jamie! What are you interview date options? Just curious how far out they're offering the interviews that way we have an idea how long the process is likely to take before being notified of acceptance/denial.

That's pretty standard that they wouldn't want the interview questions discussed. They don't want to put anyone at an advantage, which makes sense. It's better to see how the interviewees handle in the moment stress and think on their feet, especially when that's what we'll be doing as nurses constantly! I'm glad it went well.
That's exciting to hear there isn't likely to be another round of interviews. Even though waiting in nerve wracking it's good to know you've hit all the hurdles!
