UW Oshkosh Acclerated Online October Cohort Applicants?

U.S.A. Wisconsin

Published

Anyone out there applying to the UW Oshkosh Online Accelerated program? I applied and am excited to hear if I got in! I'm worried about the expense and intensity, but at 40 years old I don't want to waste any time getting to that BSN, which is my ultimate goal. I live in Wisconsin but 3 hours from Oshkosh so it won't be a quick commute for the on-campus weeks.

Just hoping to connect with other applicants while we cross our fingers and wait!

Hello,

Has anyone who has done the online interview for the May 2010 cohort received information about the phone interview?

Hi Cassandraann,

After the online interveiw generally they get back to you within a couple weeks if you are getting a phone interview. They just had graduation for the october cohort and also got the new cohort started so it might take a little longer if you just did it. Good luck to you. for the phone interview , know the info the send you and practice a phone interview ahead of time. Not getting visual feedback is harder than you would imagine.

Can you tell me how competitive the online program is? Do you know how many people apply / how many people get in? I am thinking about applying for the October 2010 cohort - I am applying from out of state. Any information about the application process and stats would be great.

I think competition is relative.....for the october cohorts historically there have been around 120 people applying for the 26 to 30 spots. I will tell you from our group most people had cna experience, most of us had very high gpas. that doesn't mean if you don't have a 3.8 or higher you can't get in because a few do but you need to have something about yourself that stands out. this program isn't like a traditional program where people get 'weeded' out, they aren't going to accept you into the program unless they are confident you can be successful. I think that the may cohorts are a little less competitive (of the two) going by what someone involved in the process told me. And if your children are in school the may program is DEFINATELY the way to go. i have the same christmas and spring break as my kids ..and i was able to not have hire a babysitter for them over the summer. (most of the moms with younger kids did still do daycare , i think)

Good luck. I really love the program. I went in thinking i would completely overwhelmed for a year..... It is overwhelming but you find your groove and its completely doable.

Thank you for the information. I am just completing a CNA course and hope to get a CNA job soon. It seems that I missed the deadline for the May cohort, but I will apply for the October 2010 one. I am in the application process for one local BSN program and an ADN program so fingers crossed I will get in somewhere. Thanks again for the information.

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if there was anyone else who was applying to the May 2010 program. I have my online interview tomorrow so I'm pretty excited for that! Good luck to everyone else!!

hi gaberdine !

i didn't apply for the may cohort, but i plan to apply for the october 2010 cohort. good luck to you on your interviews! may i ask you a couple questions? like, did you have all your pre-reqs completed before you applied? also, how much experience did you have? i 'm just trying to figure out the best time for me to apply!

good luck on getting into the program!!!!!!

cari

Hi!

I've worked as a CNA for about 6 months now, and I was told that it isn't quantity that matters. I think they just want you to have experience before you step into a clinical situation.

For pre-reqs, I'm finishing them in a couple weeks. Again, I was told that if you finish them before the interview process it may negativley affect your chances but not too much. However, I know they wouldn't like it if I had pre-reqs in the winter term (January and on)

Hope that helps!

Has anyone heard if they are in for the May 2010 cohort?? I had the phone interview and now I am just nervously waiting!!! :-)

I just checked with my friend because they have two friends applying and one of them still has a phone interview next week.... so it appears they are a little slower this year. Good luck!

No. I had my phone interview on Dec. 4th and have not heard anything yet. Like you I am nervously waiting. I check email everyday twice or even three times a day. I feel that my interview went well and that I may have a good chance getting into the May cohort. Well, all that we can do is wait. Do you have your CNA Liscense? Good luck to all who is applying for the May cohort, hopefully we will be classmates!

Have a Happy New Year!

Hello RN2BNWI, I just wanted to say hello and ask how is being in the program going? I am praying that I am in this upcoming cohort. I am excited and the same time nervous. Do you know the number of students accepted for the May cohort? Anyway, prayfully I will come to know you better as a nursing student at UWOSH.

Happy New Year!
