Hello to anyone out there applying to UW DNP or currently in the program. I am applying to fall2015. I am wondering about ability to work and attend the program. Also are there any of you with children/family?, working? and able to keep up the load? How many students does the program accept. What is your track? I am interested in FNP track and very anxious about making into the program. I know it's quiet competitive. Please respond if you have any insight and would like to share your experience. Thank you.
Thank you army nurse:) I heard that end of August people were called last year but wow, the morning of orientation would be crazy. I just called and found out that last year they took 18 off the wait list, but I do imagine that it all can vary a lot. 23 spots in the FNP cohort this year and 21 on the wait list. Over 90 apps.
Does anyone know if they had acute care NP option in the list of choices. I can't remember, I would have done that if I knew that FNP was the largest and most competitive. I'm so bummed and I was so positive that I would make it. Don't know what happened. I'd hate to wait another whole year!
Dsap, call (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME - PLEASE DO NOT POST NAMES OF THOSE IN YOUR PROGRAM PER TOS) over at student academic services! She will tell you exactly what the reviewers said about your application. She told me that I had an extremely competitive application, and the only thing preventing me wad my grades were not as good as they needed to be. She said that one reviewer gave me 10/10 on all essays, which apparently nobody else who applied got. This year they did extra advertising for the dnp, and had over 110 people apply to the fnp, as opposed to the usual 80ish. (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) gave me very useful info, and I feel confident about getting in next time after increasing my GPA, if I choose to apply again.
Eric, thanks for sharing - I spoke w/ student/academic services as well. I just finished my BSN this month also. Though I had heard before applying that I'd be considered without RN experience, apparently my lack of RN experience is what kept me from an acceptance offer.

Congrats to those who were accepted. :)
I'm waitlisted for FNP and trying to find out how many spots in the cohort there are.
Jmed - just wondering what you have heard about being waitlisted? Thank you!
