UW ABSN Summer 2017

Published

Hi all!

I am applying in fall for the 2017-2018 cohort and I know I am making this post pretty early but I am super anxious about this whole process! I would love and be so thankful for any advice, statistics, and info about personal experience/academic background from previous applicants/alumnis. I would also love to meet the people who are applying right alongside me! It is always great to have support. :)

Yay! I think I just accepted the request - group is called UW ABSN 2017-2018 for anyone who wants to get in on this.

@Freckles2316 I think I read on the UW website that the HIV/AIDS cert. is good for lifetime, but I don't remember exactly where that was, so maybe it would be best to call the school and double check.

For everyone's information, this is the official WA state directory of HIV/AIDS course - some are def cheaper than the UW one: HIV/AIDS Prevention - HIV/AIDS Trainings for Licensure :: Washington State Department of Health

I'm using this one which lets you download a PDF and read the whole course for free, and then you just pay to complete the final test and get your certification. The UW rep assured me that any training that says it is certified by WA state, and is a 7-hour course, will fulfill the requirements - so hopefully I'm good!

Those of you who are on the waitlist,

Are you guys sending immunization form and background check etc to UW by April 14th? Or are we suppose to wait until we are actually accepted to the program? I am trying to get hold of admission staffs and I couldn't.

Thanks!

One more question it says to "submit" your cpr and hiv course but it doesn't say to who or how. Wondering if we need to drop off a copy to the school or nursing or email it somewhere? Let me know if you've completed this task! Thanks

Sorry guys found it on a different link can submit to student services T-301 or email scanned copies to [email protected]

sk_1024 I am on the waitlist too. I called about immunizations and Han, the compliance lady, she said that we didn't need to send it in until we have official acceptance, as well as with the background check. I have yet to recieve a Student #, so the last chunk of the compliance form is almost impossible. Does anyone know if the rest of the compliance items need to be done if we are still waitlisted?!

It was my understanding also that we wait to submit until we are officially accepted to avoid confusion on their end. But to make sure we have everything ready to go if we get that email!

@finesar000, @Freckles2316 Thank you!, that makes sense!

Just got an email there was a little more movement on the waitlist I'm not sure where in the list people dropped off though but possibly 3 spaces

Has anyone heard of any movement on the waitlist since the BSN letters went out on Friday?

I think it is way to soon to have more movement. The people who are either in the ABSN or on the waitlist and were accepted to the BSN option have two or three weeks to decide. The last I knew the overall waitlist had moved up 7 places from the original decisions back in December.

Hi all,

I was 12th on the waitlist, and I got an offer on Friday. Yay!! I'm not sure how many people will give up their spot, but good luck to anyone who's still waiting to hear from them!

Congratulations! I was number 13 so maybe I will hear something good this week!! I sure hope so!
