UTMB Summer 2016

Published

Hey guys! I couldn't find a thread for UTMB Summer 2016 so I decided to make one. I guess because it's a little early since they just open for applications. This is the first time I use NursingCAS so I'm not quite sure how it work yet. If anyone is familiar with NursingCAS, could you please share your experience? I sent in my transcript 3 days ago and right now I'm working on my personal statement. I saw some previous threads where people mentioned about MyStar and supplemental application/document? Is it something you will receive after you submit everything on NursingCAS?

Any information will help! Thanks in advance :)

Were You able to make it today?

Yes! I'm here. What about you?

Yes. Navy blue shirt. I asked about the jewelry.

Hey! Sorry I didn't get back to you my phone wasn't getting good reception in there for some reason :/ I was wearing the olive green blouse! I remember you! I sat behind you a few rows down

How was it? I was so bummed that I couldn't go

It was pretty good! I got there maybe 15 minutes late because of the weather, it was raining bad the whole way over there! They went over application information, they stressed how the personal statement is what will set you apart from other applicants. They talked about clinicals, we will have them in Galveston and in Houston and surrounding areas. They said the average # of applicants is usually lower for spring and summer terms. And that you want to make a score of at least in the mid to high 70's in the TEAS to be competitive. They talked briefly about the honors program, and to qualify for that your gpa must be at least 3.8 along with a high TEAS score. We had a group of students (last semester students) answer questions and tell us about their experience, they all seemed to love the program and to be really happy to be there. They said it's very stressful and that you really have no days off because on those days you will be studying. They said they don't recommend commuting, but that there are people who do it. (That's what discouraged me some, because I don't have the option to move to Galveston). They took us on a tour, showed us the sim-lab and the mannequins that talk, pee, wheeze, and even bleed! Took us to the student lounge, the library, and the building where most of our lectures will be held. Answered questions about housing, they said there is usually a waiting list, so if you are interested, definitely look into it. Oh, and applications are processed as they come in, so the sooner you send yours in the sooner it will be processed, and get called for an interview.

Can't think of anything else off the top of my head, overall, it was good, I'm glad I went and got a better feel for the school. Oh, one thing I really liked is they said the faculty is really dedicated to helping you succeed and that they love the professors there. ☺️

That sounds really nice! When you said wait list what does that mean? Like for the previous application or the one you are applying right now? Lol not sure if that make sense at all.

Oh! For the waiting list I was talking about the housing. The students that spoke to us said that for student housing there is usually a waiting list, so if you are interested in student housing, definitely look into it asap!

Hope that helped clear it up some☺️

Ohh! Lol I guess I'll more into once I get the interview and everything :)

Is the personal statement on the nursing CAS or the application sent out by the nursing school?

I believe it is the one on NursingCas

I don't see it.....
