UTMB Summer 2016

Published

Hey guys! I couldn't find a thread for UTMB Summer 2016 so I decided to make one. I guess because it's a little early since they just open for applications. This is the first time I use NursingCAS so I'm not quite sure how it work yet. If anyone is familiar with NursingCAS, could you please share your experience? I sent in my transcript 3 days ago and right now I'm working on my personal statement. I saw some previous threads where people mentioned about MyStar and supplemental application/document? Is it something you will receive after you submit everything on NursingCAS?

Any information will help! Thanks in advance :)

Hmm so how long did it take nursing cas to complete your application.... Are you suppose to have the nursing cas app and the supplement done by October 15th?

It took nursingcas about two weeks or so to verify my application. As long as your application is submitted by october 15th, it will be considered for admission. It doesn't need to be verified by october 15th and you don't need to submit the supplemental application by october 15th either. At least, this is my understanding and how the routine was last application cycle. Call the admission office to make sure.

I don't want to submit my nursing cas and don't have time for them to send my supplement by 15th you know

Nah, girl. No worries about the supplemental application right now. UTMB will send you that via email after they process your application. It took less than a week for me to get my supplemental application and mystar account info from UTMB after nursingcas verified my application and sent it to them. As long as you hit "submit" on nursingcas by october 15th you should be fine.

I just applied! Woo! I also applied for their fall 2015 start and received an interview but circumstances came up and I couldn't attend. They did send an email during the application process last year offering students applying for the fall 2015 start to also apply for the summer 2015 start, because they had extra seats for that incoming class. A friend of mine with lower scores than me was accepted pretty quikly into the summer start. This leads me to think that not a lot of people apply for the summer start and the admission criteria is relaxed as opposed to the fall admission selection. I'm hopeful!

I'm curious.... Do you know your friends stats that got accepted already?

& good luck on your application btw! I'm working on my personal statement & submitting mine soon!

I'll list the ranges below of my accepted friends' GPA etc.. Mind that all of my friends had bachelors degrees, though I don't think UTMB really cares about that.

Science - 3.3-3.8 Some of my friends had failed chemistry or anatomy and retook it at community college for an A/B.

Overall GPA - 3.4-3.9

TEAS - 76-95 One of my friends scored pretty low (76) on the TEAS and still was accepted.

My friend who scored really high on everything was accepted immediately and was not asked for an interview. Everyone else was interviewed. I did not interview because I withdrew my application before that date, but from what I heard it wasn't bad at all. Exactly what you might expect to have asked of you about your career goals and statement of purpose and ethics questions.

I feel like UTMB is one of the easier nursing schools to be accepted into. At least this is what I saw in my friend circle. I knew only one girl out of about 15 applicants who wasn't accepted and her scores were pretty low and she had failed many classes.

Also, I would look on previous forums for other incoming classes for the stats of students who were accepted last year.

So I received my supplemental application today and I have to complete it within one week. I submitted my nursingcas app yesterday, so processing time is super quick.

My nursingcas application is still being verify :/ I called and the guy said it take around 4 weeks of processing. So you receive your supplemental application before submitting nursingcas app?

I guess because the personal statement and interview kinda help if your grade and score is not high enough. I mean UTMB NCLEX pass rate is pretty high too compare to TWU and UTHSC.

No, I submitted my nursingcas application yesterday and received the supplemental application today in my email, so I only received the supplemental app after submitting the nursingcas app. Your nursingcas app has to be verified before you can received the supplemental app tho.

I hate nursingcas lol. I had to have the application verified twice because of a mistake on their part and they messed up my transcript and a few courses.. Not to mention the customer service hasn't been the best experience for me. Glad to be done with the whole process.

Definitely! I would be beyond psyched to get an admit to UTMB.

@helga567 Did your NursingCas overall GPA seem lower than your overall GPA at your current college? Or did they make any mistakes calculating your GPA?

No, the GPA calculation was fine.
