I'm wondering who applied for the UTMB Summer 2009 semester, and if they have received any news from UTMB. My status says "pending", and all my information was received. I don't know how big the applicant pool is considering the hurricane. I haven't seen any news on here about UTMB recently, so anything is appreciated. Thanks.
I took it at Lonestar College-North Harris. Classes have already started, but I am no longer taking the two classes I signed up for. I decided I would take them in the summer if UTMB doesn't work out for some reason. I really needed a break. If I am accepted at UTMB (hopefully) then I won't be getting any breaks since it's a 15 month program. I don't want to start the semester burnt out from pre-reqs.
That is good that you are wanting a break, and taking one, as nursing school will be extremely tough. Lone Star College offers Pathophysiology with the prefix "HPRS", which is no longer accepted by UTMB. (as of Fall 2008) Did you take patho before that time? Also, did they accept it from there? I also go to Lone Star College but I attend Cy Fair.
I will call about it, but the prefix is: N BIOL 2305 Pathophysiology.
That would be a problem if UTMB doesn't accept it because lonestar college offered pathophysiology specifically for the UTMB program, and because UTMB requested lonestar college to offer it. I have spoken with the Biology department manager at lonestar, and she said it was accepted by UTMB. I took it Fall 2008. It was the first semester that lonestar college offered it.
I have not heard anything from UTMB....yet.
Bazooka: I believe if you took it in Fall 2008, you should be fine. I know they changed the prefix to "HPRS" which is no longer accepted by UTMB after Fall 2008. I called and spoke to them and they told me the same thing.
Deb2bRN: I dont think you are suppose to be receiving any letters in the mail. Everything will be done via email, until after interviews. Then I believe letters are sent in the mail. I think bazooka was referring to receiving anything in the mail in regards to the patho course...? right?
No, nobody told me letters were sent out. I do check my e-connect daily, but it still says "pending". Last time I talked to somebody they told me we would be notified at the end of Jan.
I am a little worried about my pathophysiology, so that is the main reason I wanted to call them.
How did you find out notification was sent by e-mail? I have wanted to go to an orientation for a couple months now (to find out these kind of things), but they keep getting cancelled. Maybe it is on the website, but I might not be navigating very well. Thank you for that information. I feel a little "left in the dark" if you know what I mean.
I understand what you mean about being left in the dark. I called UTMB and spoke to the preadmissions advisor today and she told me that letters would be sent via email. She also stated that we would be receiving interview letters, if we get to that point, in mid to end of Feb. so there is nothing to worry about as of right now.
Also, she told me that the prefix HPRS would not be accepted as it is a class for non majors, but yours seems fine to me. But just incase, try giving her a call once again. Ask for LeAnn Carmical
I did attend an information session before IKE so not sure if everything still applies. I called the nursing office after IKE and was told we would be notified via email for interviews and it would probably be around mid Jan or first of Feb. It seems the story changes depending on who you talk to. I guess IKE has really messed them all up. I'm working on being patient. It really doesn't matter anyway because I'm moving forward with ADN at HCC so I can keep my day job, at least for now, that the plan. Maybe it will change if I actually get accepted by UTMB. I still think I would rather keep my good paying job in the O&G business. Its not what I want to do, but the pay is just as good as being a nurse. I just hope I can do both when the time comes.

That sounds good. I'm still trying to figure out my living arrangements if I get accepted. I'm looking forward to attending school there. Hopefully I hear something soon!
Good luck everyone!
