I'm wondering who applied for the UTMB Summer 2009 semester, and if they have received any news from UTMB. My status says "pending", and all my information was received. I don't know how big the applicant pool is considering the hurricane. I haven't seen any news on here about UTMB recently, so anything is appreciated. Thanks.
I don't know, I am guessing it's the first week of April. If that is what they told you, then I'm sure that is correct. I didn't really get a specific answer. Just that it would be a few weeks. I already know I didn't get into UT-Houston, but I don't want to let it get me down. Good luck! I am looking forward to us being future classmates!
No, but I was wondering if we can do that?? I got them done at kelsey seybold clinic. I JUST got health insurance, but without insurance the Hep B titer would cost $64. While I was at UTMB I was able to get a form from student wellness that had a list of all the shots we need.
The nurse at Kelsey Seybold clinic filled it out for me, and I picked it up a couple days later (when I needed to come back for my TB skin test to be read). She was able to get my chart, and all my shot records were on there.
Bazooka, I wanted to know if we need to take the TDap only after the Hep B shots are over or not? I will be done with my shots in April.
Also, to everyone: Do you think it will be the beginning of April because I was told that they will be doing a 3rd round of interviews. I am not sure, but that is what I have been told.
Hmm...I don't think it matters when you take the TDap....
I do know that the tetorifice (or TDap) shot is good for 10 years. I think if you have had a tetorifice within the last two years, you might not have to get the TDap (but before you do any of this it is probably a good idea to call student wellness. They can advise you better on what to do about all the shots). The reason I am so paranoid about getting all of the shots is because I went to school to be an EMT before I decided to be a nurse. Well, I managed to graduate High school and go on to college without ever getting my Hep B series (which is interesting because since I graduated HS in 2003, I should have had that done...). Well, I was not able to go on my EMT clinicals, and I was forced to drop my clinical class (no refund, nothing). It was the only class I ever dropped, but I gave up on wanting to be an EMT because I would have to do everything over. I was stuck in the class, and it was irritating because all my fellow students were doing clinicals and I wasn't.
I have already started my Hep B series and am getting my last shot on April 13th.
Also, I got an acceptance letter to another Nursing School for Fall, but I am really really interested in UTMB, if not for Summer than at least Fall. However, due to the late response that UTMB is known for giving, worries me a bit. I do not want to just wait and wait for UTMB to respond one week before classes begin, and come to find out I didn't get an acceptance, and lose the once I already have. Any advice?

Yeah, no problem! I am SUPER EXCITED and anxious about UTMB!!! I brought my shot records to the interview, and student wellness told me I still needed my TDap and TB skin test, so I went to the clinic and got that done. My TB test came out negative. My background check came back clear, so I am ready to go!! Now all I need to do is move across Houston.....Woohoo!!
