I'm wondering who applied for the UTMB Summer 2009 semester, and if they have received any news from UTMB. My status says "pending", and all my information was received. I don't know how big the applicant pool is considering the hurricane. I haven't seen any news on here about UTMB recently, so anything is appreciated. Thanks.
We heard about it through e-mail. I applied for Summer, and received my invitation last Tues. The interview is on Friday, and I'm still waiting for the e-mail about the interview (with info. on what room it's in, etc...). It will probably be a little while before hearing something for fall. Good luck!!
Hmm...I haven't received mine yet. It's ok. Things seem to run a little late for me....
I am so excited about this!!! Right now I am concerned about my living arrangements, and whether or not I should be moving into an apartment near the school. Hopefully I will find out before my lease is up....(march 31)....
YES!!!....Hopefully! I received mine! YAY!! I did my background check. Now I have everything done that I need.
I'm also curious to see the condition Galveston is in.... It is so sad how the island was hit head on. I have not been there since the hurricane. I'm afraid it might still be a shock.
Hey Bazooka, since your interview is at 2:30 and mine is at 11:30 do you want to try and meet up somewhere around 12:00-12:30?? I think interviews are suppose to last 30 minutes each. There's an open area with sitting when you first walk in the nursing building, or at least back in July there was. My email at work is [email protected] if your interested or anyone else interested in meeting up.

Oh wow!!! Thank you so much for that information. I prefer going to class with an instructor, and I really don't have experience with on-line classes. I don't think I would have issues with on-line classes, but I prefer the classroom setting. My counselor has told me some of the things you are saying about how UTMB is very student oriented, and how they genuinely want their students to succeed. However, it is great to hear that from someone who is attending there.
I am prepared to fully dedicate myself to the program once I get accepted, and I don't expect to have the material spoon-fed to me.
(long-story example...) I went to class once a week for nutrition, and the instructor was new and took off 3 weeks in a row!! We had a sub, and our tests were over things we never covered. I didn't really have a problem with the tests because I would do on-line tutorials. I taught myself all I needed to know about nutrition with the book and the tutorials. Over half the class dropped out, and there were about 5 left. It was astonishing. I made an "A", and I was really proud of that! The next semester, my micro teacher recognized me from the nutrition class. She informed that the nutrition teacher was no longer working with the college....
Anyway...I felt kind of bad, but these experiences are good preparation for the "real-world".
I am glad that I have a better Idea of what to expect at UTMB, and hopefully it will work out. I'm looking forward to my interview!! Thank you again for sharing your experience!
