UTMB Spring 2018

Published

Hello everyone! I plan on applying to UTMB for Spring 2018 entry and can't find a post on it, so I decided to make one! I am taking my TEAS end of April. I already have a degree from the University of Houston in Health Communication and minor in Nutrition. I am finishing my last two prerequisites (A&P2, Microbiology) right now at a community college. Anyone else looking to apply? Deadline is coming up next month, so I thought it would be awesome to get a group thread going! Would love to hear from others applying!

what i heard was that the committee meets every few weeks, & at that meeting that's when the interviewers vouch for the people they interviewed that they think are a good fit

I've been keeping up with these posts religiously, but never had commented until now.

I applied May 29th, had my interview August 1st, and was accepted August 17th.

The interview was incredibly comfortable. Be confident, genuine, and let them know the reasons why you are interested in UTMB. Think up interview questions (Tell me about yourself, why do you want to attend UTMB, what are your study habits...etc) and practice a quick answer. Practice with family, friends, coworkers. The most important thing is being your true self. Let them know you are ready to take on the challenge of nursing school. I wore slacks, a professional shirt, black pullover &/or cardigan with heels.

Hoping the best for everyone!

congrats! would you mind sharing what type of questions you were asked? Thank you!

Those were some of the questions I was asked. The interviewer will possibly ask how the interviewee would handle the rigor of the program and walk them through what the days look with classes, labs, clinicals. Thats about how mine went.

Find ways to talk about certain accomplishments that are important to you. Tie in how those accomplishments have helped shape you as a "student, leader, person" etc...In the tell me about yourself question I mentioned how I love to draw and how that has helped me understand concepts in anatomy. Bring concepts together to make a strength.

Not sure about how many spots are left but they usually take 130 that's what I was told during my interview, they expect for 120 to get thru after everything but they will take the 130 if everyone passes all their background checks and required immunizations before the orientation

For those who have been accepted, after you pay the $200 acceptance fee how long does it take to get your new mystar credentials?

A day or 2 after you get an email from them that says communication #5, it will direct you to call them to receive your pw and then will help you setup a vpn and an app on your phone

okay awesome, thanks! @onthepath91

I don't have an acceptance yet (that I know of - still unsure where exactly to look) BUT my to-do list on mystar changed and said I need to "complete my final three pre-reqs prior to my enrollment" (I'm already enrolled to take them this fall). Did this happen to anyone else??? My mystar has never been updated other than that today.

Takes about 2 weeks after your interview till you find out about acceptance

So are we still on the 2nd round or are we on the 3rd now? Starting to lose hope :/

Not to crush your hope but I think it's the start of the 3rd round. 1st round was About a 2 week stint from the 17th of July-31st that's when I went. Keep your head up
