Hello everyone! I plan on applying to UTMB for Spring 2018 entry and can't find a post on it, so I decided to make one! I am taking my TEAS end of April. I already have a degree from the University of Houston in Health Communication and minor in Nutrition. I am finishing my last two prerequisites (A&P2, Microbiology) right now at a community college. Anyone else looking to apply? Deadline is coming up next month, so I thought it would be awesome to get a group thread going! Would love to hear from others applying!
i also meant to say BLS/AED certification not CPR since they dont accept that. Last bit of advice for some, your certification has to meet the standards of UTMB which i think has to come from the american red cross course if i'm not mistaken.
You will need BLS Provider certification from the American Heart Association, not the Red Cross. I just wanted to make sure people don't end up taking the wrong course then have to spend the time & money taking the correct one after the fact.
Can someone be brutally honest with me on what my acceptance rate to UTMB with a GPA of 3.34 and with the TEAS score of 78.7% in reading, 81.3% in math, 66% in science, and 79.2% in language? I know my chances are fairly slim compared to others. I had to retake a few classes like A&P and got an A, plus I took the TEAS twice. Thank you!
66 might hurt your chance. My suggestion is retake the test and get good score and send it to Eliezabeth, even deadline is past. I got 67 on my English part and didn't get in summer . So I retook it, got 83 overall but got 68 on reading and got 100 on math and grammar. So I took it again after deadline and got 88 and past everything session above 75. I directly send by result to Elizabeth . So I don't know if my 83 one helped me to got in the program or the last one . They said we can take as many time as we want but they will recommend we don't take more then 3 times

Here's the verbatim text for the BLS from the UTMB website. Thanks again for catching that mistake Brandon.
BLS for Healthcare Providers - All applicants selected for admission must complete a BLS course for Healthcare Providers which covers infant, child, adult, and two-man CPR. Please visit the American Heart Association web site to locate a course in your geographical area. Proof of current certification must be presented at orientation.
I called immunizations and they said the pdf form that is available can be filled out by the student and you dont need a signature on the bottom by a lvn,rn, etc. Also if you dont have the dates for specific shots--there is no need to put those down but can be filled with a N/A as long as your titers come back saying you have the immunity for the 3 titers they request, Hep B, Varicella, MMR and also dont forget to get your PPD shot done since you need it before enrollment as well. I just took picture of the paperwork and cropped out for neatness and submitted it all thru email to immunizations. If your starting the program and are under the age of 22 you need that menigitis shot done before hand. i also meant to say BLS/AED certification not CPR since they dont accept that. Again thanks Denjam i would be better informed if i had my acceptance letter sent to me, in the same position as Charlea was and got admitted thru mystar.
I have no clue about the immunization. I'm not from US. So didn't really know what kind of immunization I had in my life. I called them and they said we don't have to do anything just wait. I was wandering where I can get that immunization form and where can I go to do all the immunization, and certification. If there is anybody want to do it together , please let me know .

One modification to note is several facilities have not updated their CPR requirements and still list "BLS for Healthcare Providers" while you really need "BLS Providers". The AHA changed the name of the class in 2015, but most schools and employers did not update their info. I have students that are worried they are registered for the wrong course since they are going by what their school or employer told them.

You should be able to get titers done by any location that is able to draw your blood for the most part, I went thru my physician to get all that stuff done, I'm getting stuff done right now so I don't have to wait and hurry at the very last minute in case I'm missing something. As for the requirements and PDF for the immunizations just google son utmb immunizations and a page will pop up leading to to their website and the location of the paperwork you are looking for will be on the bottom left side under new students..hope this helps
