UTMB Spring 2018

Published

Hello everyone! I plan on applying to UTMB for Spring 2018 entry and can't find a post on it, so I decided to make one! I am taking my TEAS end of April. I already have a degree from the University of Houston in Health Communication and minor in Nutrition. I am finishing my last two prerequisites (A&P2, Microbiology) right now at a community college. Anyone else looking to apply? Deadline is coming up next month, so I thought it would be awesome to get a group thread going! Would love to hear from others applying!

Can someone be brutally honest with me on what my acceptance rate to UTMB with a GPA of 3.34 and with the TEAS score of 78.7% in reading, 81.3% in math, 66% in science, and 79.2% in language? I know my chances are fairly slim compared to others. I had to retake a few classes like A&P and got an A, plus I took the TEAS twice. Thank you!

To be brutally honest like you asked I would say you're chances are slim to none. I think you're TEAS scores are what will hurt your chances the most.

That 66 in science is something that will really hurt your chances. I took the TEAS exam the first time and scored in the 60s on my English section. I called and spoke with an academic advisor and with the admissions office. I was told though it is stated that 60 is the minimum, if you have less than a 75 in any section and have withdraws, low grades, a low GPA, and/or repeated courses it isn't going to happen. I ended up retaking my TEAS after working with an English tutor so I could boost that grade and get in.

You were told that if you have a withdraw acceptance won't happen? Jules81

I have a W on my transcript and I was accepted. They mainly look at how many you have, then in your personal statement you were to explain why you withdrew from the class(es).

No I was not told one W wouldn't get you denied. I actually have Ws and got in for Fall. I was told Ws combined with low GPA, low scores, etc would make you non-competitive.

Low score plus withdraws, low grades, repeats...

Has anyone who has been accepted receive their new mystar credentials? and if you have..do you have problems logging in

When I called to get my password, they also had to walk me through to download stuff to my computer so I can log in.

i called last week and they told me i didnt have domain access, called enrollment and they told me to wait a day or 2, did you have to use an extension??

nvm i called and got everything settled.

I took the TEAS 3 times in a 4 week period, my final being they day of the deadline. My score improved drastically between the 1st and 3rd time taking it. I ended up with advanced and exemplary. Don't give up, study as hard as you can and keep trying. :) @ngockiele

Also apply for summer 2018 if that is an option for you. Fall tends to usually be the most competitive with the applications.

Thank you for the motivation! Do you know how many times we are allow to take the Teas for utmb?
