Hello everyone! I plan on applying to UTMB for Spring 2018 entry and can't find a post on it, so I decided to make one! I am taking my TEAS end of April. I already have a degree from the University of Houston in Health Communication and minor in Nutrition. I am finishing my last two prerequisites (A&P2, Microbiology) right now at a community college. Anyone else looking to apply? Deadline is coming up next month, so I thought it would be awesome to get a group thread going! Would love to hear from others applying!
@ngockiele This is just a suggestion, but I would consider emailing them. I don't know for certain if this is possible but maybe you can apply with the scores you have for summer 2018 and then send them updated scores once you retake the TEAS. They do look at how many times you take the test and consider if you have improved(you don't want to do worse on the next retake). I took my TEAS last year in October and because of my low score I didn't apply for fall of 2017. I retook my TEAS for the second time in February and made a better grade, and therefore I applied for spring 2018. A friend suggested to me I should have still applied and then sent updated scores. I didn't think about it at the time, but it wasn't a bad idea. I hope this is helpful and gives you some kind of idea of what possible options you may have.
thank for your suggestion! i improved on my second tried compare to the first but english is just still too low. I am nervous about taking it the third time and making a loser score
I would retake it! I was in a similar position in regards to the English section and only had two weeks to retake and meet the requirement. I called and they told me that they actually require a 75% in each section to be considered competitive. I watched a bunch of Youtube videos, CliffNotes, and went on my account on the ATI website to see what topics I struggled in! You can do it!
thank you so much! i will retake it but apply for fall instead :)
English is tricky on the TEAS. I found the ATI review book and the practice tests to be very helpful. After studying the review book back and forth and then taking both practice test A and B twice (and reviewing the answers on any I got wrong), I felt much more confident than when I first started studying.
Hey guys! My goal was to apply to utmb summer 2018. I recently took my TEAS again and my english did not come out as i expected; one question away from making a 60%.Reading: 80.9%
Math: 84.4%
Science:78.7%
English: 58.3%
Total: 76.7%
Utmb requires 60% for each section.
I am not sure if i should just go ahead and try to apply, or wait for Fall 2018. Any suggestion guys?
I made the exact same score in the English section my first time taking the teas and I emailed Mrs botello who told me that I need to make above a 60% in each section to even be considered. So yes, retake it if you want to be a competitive applicant. Good luck! I know the English section was the hardest section for me and I'm a native speaker.

I couldn't agree more alkrn! The TEAS study guide was a critical component for me as well. I highly recommend using the guide, the online practice tests, and downloading the ATI TEAS app in preparing for the test.
It also was helpful for me to treat preparing for the TEAS test like it was a class I was taking. I studied some on it everyday in the months prior to taking the test. As the test got closer, I started taking the online practice tests to see where I should be focusing more of my time.
You can do it ngockiele! Keep your head up, stay focused and go in with a mindset that you will rock the test!
I took the TEAS 3 times in a 4 week period, my final being they day of the deadline. My score improved drastically between the 1st and 3rd time taking it. I ended up with advanced and exemplary. Don't give up, study as hard as you can and keep trying. :) @ngockiele
Also apply for summer 2018 if that is an option for you. Fall tends to usually be the most competitive with the applications.

You will need to retake it in general to apply for any nursing school, utmb is the only school I have seen with the 60% per section since it's usually a 64% per section at the other nursing schools, also you can apply but you would need to submit those updated scores shortly after or you will probably get a rejection letter for not meeting the requirements..you have decent scores besides that English, then again I think that was the hardest part of that whole test..good luck
