UTMB Spring 2016

Published

Howdy! I couldn't find a thread for Spring 2016, so I figured I would start my own. I'm having trouble with this whole application thing (mostly stress!), so I would love to talk to others going through this same process!

Kittyk04 I'll be commuting more than likely from Houston! Email me at [email protected] so I can get you number and see what area you are coming from!

So is Labor Day weekend pretty much when everyone should hear if they were accepted or not?

I don't recall seeing the email but I did apply. Does it give dates due or dates they notify or anything?

The only date that it gave was the deadline which is October 31st and it isn't a first come first serve kind of thing. I guess that will start reviewing after Oct 31st. I'm not sure how that process goes.

For all of you who like to workout, the UTMB Field house is only 12 bucks a month until January for those that have been accepted. After January it is free. It is the best gym on the island. Just a FYI .

I love to swim and want to get into a better workout routine. Gonna need stress relief! When I move to Galveston for school I am looking forward to having that option. I used the gym all the time when I got my 1st degree. As a grown up after college I didn't ever want to pay for it!

Same here! Are you looking at staying at UTMB student housing dorms or apts?

Also I've heard there is a clinic in Alvin called the Stephen F Austin Clinic, that does shots relatively cheap. I'm not exactly sure how much but if interested I'd definitely say call them and inquire about the costs.

Oh and if anyone is planning on commuting from the southeast Houston area let me know!

If u have insurance, then all vaccination can be done during annual physical/well woman exam. Most vaccinations/titers should be free during the annual exam. Check with your insurance and doctor.

I would like to either do an apt or rent a house. I did the roommate thing when I was in college the first go round, like 10 years ago! Now I'm at a point in life where I just want to come home and relax where it's quiet! Unfortunately that costs more money though!

Anyone has feedback on Ferry Rd apartments?

I agree with shasbus, with my insurance I don't have to pay for any of my shots, and the titters I just have to pay the copay to see my doctor. So if you have insurance try using it!

For anyone still waiting on a decision, I called and spoke with Laura. She said they are working on them now, and that all admission decisions will be sent by the 15th.
