UTMB Spring 2012

Hey Guys!

I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread for all UTMB Galveston's Spring 2012 traditional bsn applicants. Have you all started to apply yet or at least looked at the application? What do you think? How are your personal statements/testing going? If you guys have anything worth discussing please post and good luck to all!

I called the person who I called on Friday and they confirmed that we won't be hearing something "until the end of this week and/or the beginning of next week." This process is so frustrating..

I went to open house and DLT said that about three more batches of interviews were going to be sent out, so we shouldn't worry yet. (Like that helps right?) I'm a 4.0 and made in the 90s on my TEAS (I don't remember the exact score but it was upper...) I know that my scores are all almost perfect and my app hasn't even been looked at yet. THAT is frustrating. I've worked way too hard for this to not even be looked at! Oh, and I'm addicted to this forum you guys.. haha.

I agree. According to what people are saying, UTMB will soon be accepting students with GPA and TEAS scores FAR less than yours. Not a great system.

Next week? I was told on Friday that acceptance letters would be going out today.

My interview.... but other than that, no.. I guess I shouldn't hold my breath.

I agree, however, I like the fact that they look passed the scores to see the whole person's capabilities. Nursing is so much more than learning from a book. The art of helping people heal could never be captured in words simply written on a piece of paper in a book. The art of helping people heal can never be fully measured by science and because of this it would simply be unfair to measure somebody's ability to help people based soley on their testing performance. This is what holistic nursing is about. And I for one, a 3.4 gpa and 74.9% TEAS, am so glad utmb treats the whole person. Some of my skills can't be measured on paper :-)

Hi everyone! I am new to this post, however, I have been following this post. I too have not heard anything from UTMB, but would like to give some words of encouragement. I am a believer of God and not to offend anyones beliefs but patience is a virtue and if it is in God's plan for us to get in we will get in! I just continue to pray, and for whatever reason if we are not accepted God has something bigger and better waiting for you, or maybe it is not your turn yet! I wish everyone the best of luck . Everything happens for a reason. Just a story for encouragement: I applied to the MD anderson Radiation Therapy program, I was so set on getting in. I received an interview, and I was so certain I got in. When I received the rejection email I was devastated, but you know what? Just last week I talked to some people who got in and they hate it! Just goes to show God knows what is best!

Wow really. CONGRATULATIONS! Now that they've decided on dates and times, maybe they'll send out more invites! Wednesday that's soon, but definitely the sooner the better! Now you've gotta wear what ever it was that you picked out before. No time to change LoL
