Hey Guys!
I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread for all UTMB Galveston's Spring 2012 traditional bsn applicants. Have you all started to apply yet or at least looked at the application? What do you think? How are your personal statements/testing going? If you guys have anything worth discussing please post and good luck to all!
Hello everyone! Ive been following this thread and last semesters for a while now and decided to join! Im applying for the Spring traditional bsn. I just had my interview this past Friday and the lady rated my interview "high" and said she was going to highly recommend me to the committee
.....but i wonder if she tells that to most people...lol. My gpa is a 3.3 and Teas: 80. Ahhhhh I'm so nervous! Good luck to everybody!

Hello!
I'm the same... She rated mine "high" as well, and told me that she gave me "high" remarks. She said she didn't think I had anything to worry about, so we'll see. I'm vacillating between being extremely nervous and being chilled about it. I really hope we don't have to wait until October to find out!
My scores are about the same: 3.4 GPA and 74.9 TEAS.

Selection Factors
The Baccalaureate Admissions and Progression Committee considers a number of
factors in recommending the selection of students. In addition to the minimum admission
requirements, the following factors may also be considered:
• Academic performance as reflected by GPA (including nursing school GPA for R.N.
applicants), test scores, and past enrollment patterns
• Public/community service, for example volunteer activities in health-related areas
• Extracurricular activities
• Awards and honors for academic achievement, leadership, and community service
• Communication skills, including bilingual ability
• Awareness and direct knowledge of cultural elements as they may impact health care
• Applicant’s goals for the future
• Preadmission interview
• Academic histories and GPAs, with special consideration to the following:
1. the number of course hours successfully carried each semester,
2. the number of course failures and the dates of those failures,
3. the types of courses failed,
4. the number of times a course was repeated,
5. the number of withdrawals in comparison to hours enrolled, and
and
6.the number of withdrawal repetitions and the dates of those withdrawals
some information i found on the bulletin for 2012 dealing with Nursing... hope this helps!
Admission Status
The Baccalaureate Admission and Progression Committee begins review of each
application as it is completed. Generally, students are notified of their admission status, by the
Associate Dean of Student Affairs and Admissions, after all applications have been reviewed.
Admission decisions are based on the following:
• Full acceptance: The applicant has completed all requirements with an overall highly
competitive GPA.
• Conditional acceptance: The applicant still has outstanding prerequisite courses with an
overall highly competitive GPA.
• Waiting list: The applicant meets all minimal admission criteria with an overall
moderately competitive GPA.
• Denial: The applicant is notified that he or she has not been accepted based on one or
more of the following factors:
• Too many outstanding prerequisites
• Academic history not competitive
• Minimal GPA requirements not met
• Incomplete file: missing transcripts or applicant’s statement
I didn't hear anything, but I thought someone said they were meeting today to decide on the next batch of interviews. Maybe tomorrow? Im still so on edge! I called the enrollment services today but suddenly now they "don't give information to students on if theyre applications have been sent to the SON". Grr. So now we're in the dark :-(

I actually wrote an advisor said that my application was complete and sent to SON. She never said if it was being viewed with the next batch or not. But I guess thats better than nothing.
