Hey guys Im making this thread so all of the applicants for UTMB Spring 2010 can follow each other through the process and help each other out! The application deadline is coming up soon! Goodluck to all!:nuke: I know they are only exepting 60 for the spring.
MAN I wish I would have seen this forum months ago... I just found it today. I'm glad that there are other UTMB applicants that have been checking econnect and their inbox everyday for the last what, 5 months?!?
Hi everybody!
I got the interview email yesterday morning, I'm SO NERVOUS. Excited, but nervous. Yikes!!!
For those of you who got accepted to the Bacc2 program are you going to live in Galveston or commute? Does the Bacc2 program require us to go to the campus often? I'm for sure going to move to the island, but don't know if I should look for a place close to campus or not. Let me know what you know!
And congrats to those that have gotten interviews!!!!!
I posted this in September to help with relocation here it is again. These areas have easy access to 45.
I see a lot of people not living in the area have concerns about relocation. I live in Clear lake area and I know of some cities that are not too far from Galveston. Clear Lake (southeast houston) 77062, 77058,77059, Webster 77598, Friendswood 77546, League city 77573, Kemah 77565, Dickinson 77539, Texas city, 77591, 77590, La Marque 77568.
FYI Clear lake, Friendswood, Webster, League city, and Kemah are pretty nice areas to live in IMHO. The other areas are closer but like most cities have some not soo good areas. You may be able to find some cheap rent in a rental home or apartment though.
Hey everybody!
I live in Dickinson, its not what I would call a 'great' area but the rent is cheap for a poor college kid such as myself haha... I would really like to move back to Clear Lake, its really nice over there, and has a real sense of community. However, with construction and everything, I'm wondering how the commute will be from Clear Lake/Kemah down to the island (ie, traffic on nasa rd 1 and 45 is horrible, etc...) Maybe taking 146 down to 45 would be faster. But yeah, what Jade said, Clear Lake, Kemah, Friendswood, and most of League City are all nice places to live. And because they all kind of run together, you know where to find everything.
What questions do you guys think they will ask us in the interview? I'm sure typical questions we should expect would include: why do we want to be nurses, why do we want to attend UTMB, etc... How long after the interviews do yall think we will get news of our acceptance?
WELCOME TheRedOne!!! We are definitely glad to have you!!! From what I've been hearing people are finding out about their acceptance about 2 weeks after their interviews. So if we get interviewed Friday...we might know by Thanksgiving! Which would be wonderful...because if I do get in I would look super intelligent in front of my boyfriends extended family (which I'm meeting for the first time...after 8 months lol). I'm hoping to move to the Haven at South Shore which is in League City...really close to 146. So that's the way I'll be taking to school. My dads trying to get me to move to the island, but I don't know how safe it is there and I don't know anyone to live with down there...so I don't know how comfortable I feel about that one. I'm getting SO nervous about this interview!! I went shopping and got myself a cute blouse and a pencil skirt, so I'm prepared visually lol. I hope these people are nice and crack jokes, because I DO!! I don't want them to look at me stupidly if I say something kinda out there. AHHH!!! I'm stressing and it's 5 days away!!!
Hi Toasterbell,
I also got accepted to the Bacc2 program. I plan to work part time ~20hrs per week if my job will let me. If I feel like it's too much, I can always quit the job. There are still a few scholarships available to us. The nursing program has a few and I found some on FastWeb for nursing students. Most of them are for next year summer/fall. Let me know if you want details.
Best wishes,
Deb.

Hi All,
I have been searching for an appartment, a decent and safe place around UTMB to stay and be able to focus on study is rather costly ...
Anyone want a roommate? I want a roommate and I can be a roommate, too.
I have 2 kids who will be staying with my husband during the weekdays. I basically will meet with them and stay with them every weekend in Houston.
Let me know if you are interesting in sharing a room with me. We can be good studying partners too.
