Hey guys Im making this thread so all of the applicants for UTMB Spring 2010 can follow each other through the process and help each other out! The application deadline is coming up soon! Goodluck to all!:nuke: I know they are only exepting 60 for the spring.
Congrats Katielou, I know what you mean about ready to make the money. My husband has been making the money for awhile now. I attended a nursing school for a year, graduated, did clinicals and so on. Only to find out it wsn't accreddited and not only that we paid for my school out of pocket. I'm talking about $8500. So, as you see I am too ready to get this journey on the way. The sad thing is that alot of my teachers were nurses in some of the local hospital here and they did not even know and I was so proud that I graduated top of my class. Talking about what the hey. I can now look back and not be so angry. So with all that being said keep your heads up our turn is coming.
Thanks you guys! Ya'll are making this process so much easier and definitely keeping my spirits high. I felt so bummed about not having a 4.0 and though for sure I'd be denied, but you guys have raised my spirits. My mom is doing the online program so she doesn't get to interact with the profs directly, but when she met all of them at orientation she LOVED it. She said they were all super nice and helpful. I applied to UTHSC (I'm not expecting to get in with my GPA...just thought I'd try), and from what I've been told, UTHSC doesn't care too much about their students...just their money. UTMB is very student oriented and they go out of their way to help you. They also have what's called TGIT (Thank God It's Tuesday/Thursday) and they have parties with free drinks and food EVERY WEEK. It sounds like a lot of fun to me. Getting to do what we love and having fun at the same time. Since my mom is already and RN she doesn't have to do many clinicals or anything like that, but she turned her first assignment in 2 days ago and got an awesome grade!! WOO HOO MOM!!!!! She's super smart. And jazzynurse, I'm SO sorry to hear that. That must be so frustrating. But the good news is, you're going to be SO much further ahead than everyone else. You're a step ahead and I'm sure you're going to make an amazing registered nurse.
Hey guys,
Ive been reading this without writting much, Just wanted to let ya'll know what was going on with me. I got my interview letter from ut-houston. I was so suprized! I thought for sure that I would hear from utmb first! Did any of you apply to both places?

Congrats on the engagement! Thanks for sharing with us..your pointers will definately come in handy should we get interviews! To answer your question on GPA..I've been to info sessions one in 2008 and the other in 2009 and both said the average GPA of previous classes was the 3.0 to 3.1 range.
They ask questions about what classes you are enrolled in currently or planned, but they understand that schedules change and like misspink mentioned as long as you are done before January 2010 you are all good. (Hi misspink!) And being in great shape definately sweetens your chances GOOOO KATIELOU!!! :anpom:
That's so cool that your mom is there to coach you (US) thru this stuff. What kinda stuff does she say about the teachers, school, and the fast pace of the program? I know she is RN-BSN, but im still so courious about what's on the other side of that UTMB wall!
Oh, and I promise to resist all urges to refer to you as Katie Lou WHO (after today)
