Hey guys Im making this thread so all of the applicants for UTMB Spring 2010 can follow each other through the process and help each other out! The application deadline is coming up soon! Goodluck to all!:nuke: I know they are only exepting 60 for the spring.
Yes my the Net that I think they used was math97, Reading 73, total 85 I took it twice and my first grade was higher Math 97, Reading 79, total 88.
I fell that the 73 is a little low but im hopeing my GPA will help
I have science 4.0
prereq: 3.7
I applied before and didn't get in because my reading score was 68 so you do have to have above a 70 on all parts of the NET
Hi everyone,
Apologies for causing panic - to answer a few quick questions about my original post:
1 - I did not ask UTMB about their retake policy, they specifically informed me that my Statistics class was the issue as I had been enrolled in it three times (even though I withdrew from it one of the times).
2 - I had also retaken several other prereqs and did much better on some of them the second time, and there was no issue with that at all.
3 - I was told I had to petition the Dean for permission to continue with my application given my Stats re-take issue.
I am following Ms. Sealy's advice and will be petitioning - I owe UTMB admissions an email back to ask exactly how to go about doing that - will post back up as I make my way through the process.
Thanks to everyone for additional info about some of the other programs - I did my BS over 10 years ago and have had to re-take all the main science prereqs, so these rules are tough to deal with if you've been out of school for a while!
hello everyone! i have been reading all of your posts for the past few months. i figured it was time i say hello and thank you for all of the information. i applied to utmb, uthsc and university of colorado denver. i received an interview letter from uthsc a few days ago and i am now waiting to hear from utmb. i am just looking for others to talk to that are in the same boat as me- nervous wreck! i live in houston and haven't decided if i would commute to galveston or just move there- have to see if i get in first
good luck to everyone and hopefully we will hear something very soon!!
TXJeepGirl - I remember my statistics professor saying that the nursing schools use statistics as a guide to accepting students. He also stated that Stats was one of the main courses that they look at. Some schools use a points system and others use statistics to determine what type of student is a good candidate.
Oh boy.....
Well thank you for the feedback - I am going to have to start over with looking into other programs and see if I can find one that might be willing to work with this issue and I will try to petition UTMB and get a successful application through the gate there.....
Even if I get into an ADN, I still want to go for my MSN, so I'm going to have to figure this out - can't avoid it forever....
Ugh - totally my own fault and can't blame schools for being wary of something like this - I was irresponsible my senior year of undergrad when I first took it, withdrew improperly from it a year later - ah, to be 22 again!
Hey TXJEEPGIRL,
I'm glad you are going to appeal and yes ma'am you had this room in a tailspin!
I think we got everything straightened out. Please let us know what happens during the appeal process.
BTW, One of the speakers at the open house said there is a form you can fill out that will keep your "party days" from being reviewed on the transcript. She said they understand that some of us we not very focused in the early days and there is a form for that! Maybe that is a part of the appeals process.
I wish I could go back and change a few things .
I might have to look into getting one of those forms!!!
That was my problem my first two years of school. Although I am still young, I have learned a LOT from college experiences. It seems so crazy to me that there are people out there with straight 4.0's. I have a 3.4 and I had the highest GPA on the cheer AND dance team. I made Academic All-American which is for varsity college athletes who are full time. Needless to say, there weren't very many...2 cheerleaders total (you had to maintain over a 3.0 and have a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.3). I thought I was smart until I started reading all of these posts lol. Oh well, I guess that's what I deserve for putting sports above school for 2 years.
3 C's on my transcript (
