Hi I know it's a few months early, but have anyone started getting their application/essay ready to apply to UTMB for 2019? Lol I'm nervous looking at blogs from previous years. I'm also scared to take the TEAS. I plan on applying for Summer 2019.
I live about 1 1/2 hours (70 miles) away according to Google Maps. I would be commuting, but I don't mind. It takes me at least 45 minutes to an hour to get to anywhere I wanna go anyways lol
I'm in the same boat. I live in Kingwood (northeast Houston). It's an hour and a half according to Google Maps, but that's with no traffic. :/ I'd prefer not to relocate, but that's such a long commute. I wonder if we would have classes every single day of the week, or if there's a day or two without classes.
I completed my application the first week of August. I'm just curious, where are you guys from and are you planning on moving to Galveston or commuting if you are accepted? I'm from Houston and I'm trying to decide if I should try to commute or if I should find a place closer to UTMB.
I live about 2.5 hrs away so I'd be moving there if I am accepted just because my road rage will not be a great start to anyone's day.

I live about an 1 1/2 hrs. away as well and will be commuting. There are actually lots of us that will be commuting with hour + drives. From what I can tell, you will go to class about 2 days a week and lab another day. Then there is clinical, but that can be anywhere. So you're looking at 3-4 class/lab/clinical days initially. The morning classes start at 9. The great thing is that in the morning everyone is going off the island, so you won't encounter too much traffic going in. I'm taking the beltway to ease the drive. It will be about $160 a month but if it will make my drive better, I don't care, lol.
If this helps anyone who is worried about their stats feel a bit better, then here it is!My cumulative GPA was a 3.2
My Nursing core GPA was around 3.1
My science GPA was 2.78. I did retake a class and it bumped me to a 3.0 but when i applied and got accepted for spring 2019, the class i was retaking was not a part of my gpa.
My teas was 84
I did, however, have a BS in Nutrition. But as you can see, my stats weren't very good at all and i got accepted the first time i applied. Dont be too worried and hope for the best! Stay positive! Goodluck :)
This is very helpful. In your personal statement did you focus on talking about your grades?
I'm sure you'll hear back pretty soon. A lot of nursing schools NCAS deadlines were on the 15th. Not sure if UTMB is everybody's first choice.
I hope so! I know UTMB is extremely competitive but I hope a spot opens up. I always have the urge to call and see if they have any updates but don't want to be a bother.
I'm having troubles with nursing cas and was wondering if anybody has had similar problems and/or could help me out. This summer I took 3 classes (Stats, Hist and Sociology) and got straight A's, I was so happy about this because I knew this was going to boost my overall gpa for the utmb summer application. Today, one of the advisors that work with our applications contacted me and said my summer classes weren't verified, therefore they couldn't calculate it with my overall gpa. I'm so upset because when I checked my nursing cas profile, it states that everything was verified, YET MY TRANSCRIPT didn't reflect that. I contacted them and they keep telling me that they can't do anything. I'm very frustrated because this is something that was totally NursingCas's fault! UTMB's advisors are allowing NursingCas to override it if they find proof that it was their fault, but they aren't willing to admit to fault or help me out!! I'm so desperate, this would have bumped up my overall gpa to a 3.4!! now its still sitting at a 2.95. All that hard work for nothing.

Let me know if you get accepted! I live in Atascosita so we could organize a car pool.
I spoke with the person who has my application and she said they are still making decisions for Spring 2019 and that those who haven't heard back yet that they will hear something soon. Everyone should get an acceptance, denial or waitlist notice. I haven't gotten anything. Yes, for SPRING 2019. I'm freaking out because I feel like so many people have heard and have done their medical stuff and found housing. So for those who haven't heard anything, there is still hope. I was shocked because I asked "but people have been waitlisted for spring 2019 so that means I will be waitlisted?" She said not necessarily.
