UTMB Spring 2015 Applicants

Published

Hey Y'all,

I read through the whole UTMB Fall 2014 thread and thought I'd start the next semesters thread (because I couldn't find one). I know the application doesn't close until May 31st, but thought it would be helpful to start this now.

I have scheduled to take the TEAS on the 19th (fingers crossed).

I am also reapplying after being denied for Fall 2014.

@nayselode, did you change your personal statement at all? I'm not sure if I should rewrite it to reflect what I've done since the time I was denied to now.

I did modify it. I had included a personal statement that indicted the things they wanted included in it, and then I included a detailed personal statement. This time I'm just going to go with the regular personal statement. I made a few adjustments here and there but its all basically the same thing.

If you feel like the things you have done since the denial are important include that in your statement. Anything that would make you a better candidate is helpful (at least that's what I think)

Okay, gotcha.

Well, after calling and asking about my application I was told that my personal statement was "good." So I'm not sure what I should do.

How are your other stats?

90 TEAS and GPA went up from 2.8 to 3.0 after this Spring semester. I was told that I didn't get in for Fall because of my GPA, which is obvious. lol

I love your TEAS Score. Weekday did you do as fat as studying for it? I def. Need to improve my score.

I want to say I learned most of the material from classes I had previously taken in college and high school. I just went over the study book for about a week or two as a refresher. Taking most of my science classes (A&PI and II, microbio, and chem) right before I took it was the most helpful for me.

Accepted after first wave of interviews for Fall 2014 this past Feb 24th to be exact. Here were my stats:

78% TEAS

Science GPA 4.0

Pre-Req GPA 3.73

150 Job Shadow Hrs in OR & LD

BLS course already complete

Some Academic Honor Societies from 4 year university

Hope this helps y'all. It's less competitive to get in for Spring than Fall...about half the amount of applicants. Good Luck!!!
