The application process has just gotten under way for UTMB spring admission. Has anyone taken the TEAS tests? Any helpful hints on getting a high score?
I've been following this forum for quite awhile, I will agree with all the following previous comments about the interview also.
Be yourself. Don't script yourself (i.e. writing a speach). Relax and it will be fine. For me, I had always been a person who was intimidated by processes like this because, I , like some people, feel that they 'don't have what it takes' or believe that 'others' are better than you. Don't sell yourself short nor be arrogant about it either. My interview was approx. 30-45min.
Send a follow-up thank you e-mail to your interviewer (I received a business card). As for the interview, its basic stuff (what's your study habits, what is one thing you feel is important and can be related to nursing as a profession; and, outside of school, what is one thing you enjoy doing)
I got my interview invite on the 16th, scheduled for the 23rd, and finally, got accepted on the 28th.
For all those who want hope, I have a GPA of 3.45 (thanks to UT Austin for bombing it) and a TEAS score of 79.3.
I never though I would ever get a change to be accepted, let alone being recognized for the hard work I put in.
OH, shout outs for all those who got in, we deserved it.
for those of you planning to commuting from Houston..how will you compensate for the long night of group studies? for example if a group study session last up to midnight which means it takes 1.30 hrs - 2 hrs back to Houston only to realize you got a few hours to sleep before waking up around 6am to avoid traffic to head to class around 8am? just curious on how yall plan on tackling this problem since its been on my mind for awhile now. 8/
I would just not attend or stay that late. It doesn't matter how much you study it won't do you much good if you're exhausted. Who else is thinking about commuting? I hope I get accepted to UT health so I won't have to but if I have to commute I will. It will be difficult but it is definitely not impossible! I believe it will be worth it in the end.

I live in downtown Houston it takes me 45 minutes to an hour to get to the island. I intend on having many late nights all throughout nursing school whether or not I'm in a study group on that particular night. From what I understand class times are 9-3 so traffic will be nonexistent on most days and I will always be going in the opposite direction of the worst of it. I personally can mange doing the drive 3-4 days a week it's not a big deal to me. My assumption is that nursing school will dominate my life with or without the commute. Commuting will be non-thinking time/ decompressing time or replaying lectures for me.
If you live 2 hours away I would seriously consider moving closer. Or listening to lectures for at least part of your drive. I had a job for over a year that was an hour away so for me commuting is normal. Thankfully it wont be as long for me because it takes me about 30 mins to get to the island. I think in houston a 30 minute to an hour commute is pretty typical because it is such a big city, but I can understand the dilemma about time and gas money. I got into uthsc before I got into utmb and that is a 1.5 hour drive for me in traffic. Not ideal, but to me totally worth it. But thankfully I got into utmb which was my top choice. Weigh the pros and cons, really think about it and if you can consider it, try to move closer. League city/ clearlake is pretty affordable. Plus its about balance. If you live that far maybe only do late night study sessions once or twice a week, study at home or find people that live closer to you to have a study group. I wont be doing tons of late night study groups because I have a husband and I would like to see him every once and awhile.
Hello everyone! I been stalking this forum for a while now. I finally got an interview. I feel like its late but I am not complaining. Reading everyone stats scares me! My gpa and teas is not as high as everyone else. I guess this is why my interview is later then the rest. I am a hot mess now. My interview is next week on weds. Any advice people??? I live in the Alvin area. I would love to car pool with someone!(that's if I get in)
For those talking about the shuttle yes there is one for employees, leaves from victory lakes i think, not sure about students though and I'm pretty sure it's 3 dollars each way if you pay for it by ride cheaper if you buy a monthly plan. But its at specific times only it's not just whenever.

Btw if anyone is driving from league city or somewhere near there they have a park and ride to UTMB that is super cheap! From what I read online the buses have wifi!
