UTMB Spring 2014 Applicants

Published

The application process has just gotten under way for UTMB spring admission. Has anyone taken the TEAS tests? Any helpful hints on getting a high score?

For those worried about immunization records.

I got off the phone today about the immunization shots. The health service is aware that interviews are still being conducted and some are waiting for their acceptance. (or denial, hopeful not so) So, the lady told me to not be alarmed and its okay to sent immunizations after the deadline (Nov. 1), but make sure its done before the winter break starts.

Seems to me that the school is quite concern for our success and wants us to succeed in anyways possible. Love that!!

Does anybody know the complete list of immunizations we are required to have before Januarary? Also if there's any lab work or physicals that we have to take? I would like to knock them all out by this week so I don't have to worry about them.. TIA.

It's in the student health section on the utmn son website

Just had my interview. They told me 2 weeks till I will know something. I really don't know how it went my interviewer was nice and all I just couldn't read her very well. Hoping for the best.

Does anybody know of a place where they offer free immunization a for those who don't have insurance??

Specializes in Emergency Medicine.

I know some of the community health clinics around the Houston area offer immunization for free till a certain age. I called and I am 25 and they wouldn't accept me. I had to go to a clinic in Spring for my hep shot. It was 60 dollars.

Depends on where you live but most clinic offer then for free or a very low cost

I live in baytown and I've been doing some research and I can't find anywhere. I just recently ended my job so I lost my insurance so I'm trying to find somewhere to go where they'll give them for free or cheap. So if anybody knows of any near by place please let me know I would really appreciate it. :)

@mifari92

You may need to look in the greater houston area. Google things like "MMR Vaccine in Houston" and it should give you tons of places with the vaccines. Also Walgreens and HEB and most places with a pharmacy have vaccines available. Pricing depends on what you need. If you have no insurance and need all vaccines...that will get pricey. I have a feeling you have had the immunizations since they have been required to be taken as an infant for awhile now. In that case you just need the titers. I just googled and found an Accesalabs that does the hep b, mmr and varicella titer as a combo for 189$. You could also call up some insurance places to see if you could get insurance for a month or two and get vaccinations. If that is possible you then can figure out what is more cost effective. Do you volunteer in a hospital? Sometimes they give flu shots and TB screenings free because it is required to work there.

I had my interview today as well! I think it went really good! Hopefully we all hear back soon!

@Mifari92 what all shots do u need? Try calling Lyons clinic its located in houston off of I-10

It has been looking like people find out on Wed. So I'am really hoping we know something tomorrow not in 2 weeks.
