UTMB FALL 2010 (University of Texas Medical Branch)

UTMB Fall 2010 Application period starts tomorrow Nov. 15, 2009

Who here is applying for it?

Btw, there is the ATI TEAS entrance exam for FALL 2010.

Anyone taken it yet?

I can't seem to find the registration for it in the atitesting.com.

I did horrible on the reading portion of the NET. Then, I took the HESI and did really well. I just recently found out that UTHSC is no longer requiring the NET and have changed their entrance exam to the HESI. Go figure.

Good luck everyone!

The reading on the TEAS is different from the Net. You get much more time but it's still kind of tricky (not as tricky as the Net, thank goodness). I hate that NET test with a passion. LOL.

But as long as you know purpose, main idea, predicting outcomes then you'll be fine. IMO It's easier than the net, but a bit harder than Hesi's reading; I found myself deciding between two answers a couple of times with the comprehension questions. Towards end of the reading test it was a couple of questions on how to read a food menu and calculating things. Stuff like that is a bit different than the other two tests but pretty simple.

Good Luck!

I bought both the online practice exam and the ATI study guide. I found both to be great study tools but thought the online practice exam was most helpful. If you have already taken the NET and Hesi, I believe it will be fine if you just buy the online practice exam. It is very similar to the Teas test.

Good luck!

I didn't do the online practice test; but it sounds like it would be very helpful. Since you have already done the other test Im sure you will do ok. If you really want a paper study guide you could always purchase one at Borders or B&N. (Do not purchase the McGraw Hill version - it was like two editions slammed together without editing. Half the answers in the back did not even relate to the questions, others were just wrong)

Good Luck, and try not to stress to bad. This was so much better than the NET in every sense. The only problem I had was the ATI server kept crashing, we almost had to reschedule. But they finally got it working again.

Hi everyone,

Just joined. Am really worried about my TEAS score for UTMB. Am in the 74 % program rank. I know I could have done better but I just kept postponing to study for the test, I feel really bad abt messing this up. I was wondering if anyone knows if UT, UTMB and TWU will accept applicants with some courses in progress. I have Hist 2, Visual Arts, taking Medical Term and Spanish as electives. I applied last semester to UT but didn't get in. My overall GPA is 3.69 and my science GPA is 3. 74.

I am sorry to hear about the TEAS, I am sure it is better than you think, and screw UT I applied and didn't get in either, its bc of my NET score...I did really bad but did well on Hesi and it's funny bc now UT has changed to the Hesi..bastards. So I am taking my Teas on the 11th...any heads up? What part was the most difficult? Also have you thought about applying to LSC? I know UT and TWU app dates have already passed but you can still apply to UTMB and LSC.

Tnx. The TEAS wasn't that bad, I was tired of taking entrance exams and didnt put much effort. The science section involved random basic chemistry, general bio and basic knowledge science questions. The math section was easy but took me a lotta time. The English section was about 6 short passages and abt 5 questions on each. It gets tiring, so come prepared. I did really good on the NET for UT, I think I didn't get in coz I had a whole lot of core courses in progress, two of my friends didn't get in either. What LSC stand for and do they offer the BSN generic program?

Thank you for the info! Lone star community college, that is where I go now. They only offer an ADN degree but it's better than nothing. I know what you mean about being tired of taking these tests....I wish they would all just require one test, the HESI and allow us to distribute our score to as many schools as we want like they do w/ medical school or law school, they make it harder on themselves and on everybody else.

I totally agree with you on the one entrance exam. It would save students tons of money and there would be a set standard for entering students.

I have applied to UT and UTMAB.. I thought the TEAS was WAY easier than the NET.. but i think maybe because it is computerized and you have so much more time and dont get and nerves. I scored a 79 on NET but then scored in the 96% on the TEAS... Anyone know when interview letters will start being sent out for UTMB?

I have applied to UTMB, on econnect it shows everything received. I have not taken the TEAS test yet and wondering if it's too late for FALL 2010. Does anyone know if I still have a chance?

You would have to look up on the ati testing website if there are anymore scheduled.. if there are anymore testing dates you will be fine.. since they are sent electronically UTMB should receive your score right away.

Good luck!
