UTMB FALL 2015

Published

Hello everyone! I think it's finally time for someone to start a fall thread so here it goes. I am applying to UTHSC and UTMB for fall semester. I gave my teas test today and idk if that score is good enough or not. My GPA is 4.0 and teas individual score is 81. How did everyone else do in their test?

@Ashunda45 Did they explain why you had to have another interview? That's weird, but I think it's a good sign. Means they're interested!

We should hear back by the end of next week?! OMG... Another week then?

@irink I don't know! I asked them why I needed the second interview and they kept it secret. I wasn't asked many questions during my 1st interview. But the 2nd one was very detailed and lasted 45 munutes cause I asked my interviewer 4 questions after I had heard they like someone who asks them many questions. All I know is I had lots of new questions on my second interview! I hope we all get in and make our dream of becoming a nurse true. Can u please call the lady and ask her when they send out the emails and post it. The last question my interviewer asked me was about my GPA and Teas score: I told her I have 3.912 overall GPA, 82 on Teas and more than 250 hospital volunteer hrs. But I got rejected in my dream and I was crying like a baby! When I told my friend about my dream he said dreams always happen the opposite! He already got in and he is currently helping me out in prayer lol

@Ashunda45 I called them but only got voicemail. Will try tomorrow. It's interesting that they asked you about GPA and TEAS because I was told at the interview that they can't see our scores or GPA and the whole conversation is based on our personal statement.

I have another question...

I took the 3 Hep B vaccines (when I was very young) but never took the titer... So does anyone know if I need to restart the series. or can I just take the titer, and if so, is there anywhere where I can get the titer done??

Im starting to freak out about this.

And Thank you in advanced.

And thank you @lrinK

I had the same exact question!

Student health told me to get the titer done as soon as possible. If it comes back negative, then you have to restart the series. If it comes back positive you're immune and don't have to do anything further.

I had my titer done today. I just went to my doctors office and told them I needed a hep b titer and they did the bloodwork there.

So we can't just show our shot records to prove that we've had the vaccines?

In addition to proof of vaccination you need a confirmation of immunity :)

So you need 3 hep b shots AND a positive titer.

Need to get a titer. On 61st street in Galveston, there is a clinic that will do it for 20 bucks which is good! It's by Starbucks. If you've already been accepted to UTMB or Galveston college, then you should go to UTMB clinic for students.

Guys, I called the admissions. They stopped working on the fall acceptances because of the commencement. It may be another two weeks till we hear anything back... I wanted to write "let's relax" but can't imagine myself letting the stress go. Thought I was the patient and the strong one. Anyway. Let's try to relax. At least we know why the silence.

That's crazy that they stopped working! Admissions are important í ½í¸«

Has anyone applied for the Honor's Program?

Yes - I applied. The deadline is tomorrow for anyone who has been invited. It sounds like a great opportunity but only a few are selected. Good luck to all.
