  1. In addition to proof of vaccination you need a confirmation of immunity :) So you need 3 hep b shots AND a positive titer.
  2. I had the same exact question! Student health told me to get the titer done as soon as possible. If it comes back negative, then you have to restart the series. If it comes back positive you're immune and don't have to do anything further. I had my titer done today. I just went to my doctors office and told them I needed a hep b titer and they did the bloodwork there.
  3. Yes, I got invited to apply to the honors program :) Congrats to those who have been accepted! I'm excited to meet ya'll in the fall! And good luck to those still waiting! I'm rooting for you :)
  4. I JUST GOT ACCEPTED!!!!! I didn't have an interview!! Did anyone else get the honors program invitation?
  5. Here's what the entrance requirements are for the honors program according to the UTMB website: Students will apply for participation in the Honors Program after acceptance to the traditional BSN track..at the time of submitting an application for admission to the BSN Traditional nursing program. Entrance requirements for the Honors Program are: Minimum GPA of 3.75 in prerequisite courses; all science course final grades must be at least a B. Minimum TEAS Composite score of 85 Matriculation with the fall semester class In the first paragraph there's conflicting information, so I called them a few days ago to figure out how to apply. I searched all over the website and couldn't find an application or anything. While updating the requirements I guess they forgot to delete that 2nd sentence. I was told there is no application that everyone who meets the requirements can fill out and submit. After acceptance, you have to receive an invitation to apply. Here's what the website says about the application process: Applicants meeting requirements will be offered Early Admittance Admission to the SON Traditional BSN program. Students complete the Honors Application and Essay. Finalists are - interviewed by the Honors Committee. Honors Committee makes final selections and issues acceptance letters. I hope that helps!! :)
  6. I went to the Open House on the 13th. :) They went over basic information about the school/applying that you can find on the website. Here's some additional information they covered: -For Fall, there are usually around 800 applicants (the reason the number is so high is because NCAS allows you to select multiple schools to send your info to. People send their application to UTMB with no real interest in actually attending the school). Out of those, around 300 - 400 are qualified. They have 120 seats for the nursing program in the Fall, however they can accept more than that (for Fall 2014, 135 people were accepted). -About TEAS V scores: Scores are a very important part of your application. When asked what a "good" TEAS score was, the lady at the open house said to think of it like getting a grade on a test. The closer to 100, the better. If you have a strong application but low scores, UTMB sometimes requests that certain people retake the TEAS or a section of it. -About GPAs: Yes, it's possible to get accepted with a lower GPA, but having a 3.5+ GPA is an advantage. Don't fret if your GPA isn't stellar though; they understand that life happens. Explain why your GPA is what it is in your personal statement. -About Personal Statements: Your personal statement is the time to show UTMB that you're more than just scores on a piece of paper. Use this opportunity to explain WHY you want to be a nurse (don't just say "because I want to help people", really put thought into what made you decide to pursue nursing). Be sure to discuss any past experiences or hardships. -About the Honors Program: You have to be selected to apply. A current student at the Open House said the Honors students got accepted without an interview and have outstanding stats. After the information session, there was a Campus Tour. Even though there's a lot of construction going on outside, the inside of the buildings are really nice. The people at the school were incredibly friendly. The coolest part was being able to see the sim lab. It looks just like a hospital on the inside. There, nursing students practice on dummies (there's even some that sweat!). I'm looking forward to hearing news about Fall 2015! :)
  7. Are any of ya'll going to the Open House on February 13th?
  8. Can someone copy and paste what the email said? I got the same email, but it got sent to my spam folder and I accidentally deleted it before I could open it.
  9. I just got my mystar info, a day after submitting the supplemental. I'm so anxious. UTMB is the only school I applied to.
  10. I didn't submit my personal statement again because I already did it through NCAS.
  11. I just received my supplemental application. :) It took NCAS 5 days to receive my transcript, 2 weeks to verify it, and about a day to receive the supplemental application.
  12. I just submitted my application. I hope NCAS receives my transcript soon!
  13. I started studying a few weeks before taking the exam. I highly recommend the official study guide for the TEAS by ATI. I read the book cover to cover and completed every sample problem/practice test. Nearly every concept that was on the test is covered in the study guide. :) I haven't submitted my application yet. I'm still working on my personal statement, and I'm waiting for NCAS to receive my transcript.
  14. Hello :) I am applying to UTMB for Fall 2015 as well. My GPA is 4.0 and my TEAS V score is 90.
