UTMB FALL 2014

Published

I would like to start a thread for UTMB FALL 2014 since there I cannot find one. I am in the process of applying and this is the only school I am applying to. Right now, I just trying to finish my personal statement before I can submit it. I am a bit nervous and excited at the same time. So, how is everyone else doing?

Hello everyone!

I'm going to bud into this thread because I really need some advice over my numbers.

My cumulative GPA is a 3.8

My prereq GPA is around a 3.96

I still need to finish this semester and 2 summer courses to completely be done with all the prereqs. I'm thinking I should wait till the end of this semester to apply to UTMB. (I'll send my transcripts around the 2nd week of May.)

I've already taken the TEAS V exam and my score was a 77.3% (Composite) I don't think it is competitive enough and I don't think I have enough time to retake it. Any suggestions??

Thanks guys!!

I believe that you need to have at least a 79% per section to be competitive. You should retake it and wait to apply for the following semester if the deadline is too soon.

On their website it says a minimum 58% is required and a 78% is considered competitive....? If you don't mind me asking what was your TEAS score??

Thank you! This is very helpful! I have volunteer hours at Methodist Dallas Hospital in the ER and other parts of the hospital. I also worked in an immunization clinic for an entire Summer. Hopefully that helps. Do you have any advice that could help me get into UTMB??

I had a an overall 3.75 gpa. My prerequisite gpa was 3.75 and science was 4.0. My TEAS was a 72% and I was accepted for fall, so I think your stats are good!

Is there anyone who hasn't received a reply back from UTMB yet after their interview?

@dm123 - did you get taken off the waitlist for fall?

Sorry, i was off by a point. I finally found my teas scores, my overall was an 84 with an 80+ per section.

Im just saying that to be competitive you want a higher score. In my opinion. I read that your science teas has to match your science gpa

@jenizv12 - You should send your transcripts as soon as you can. NCAS get a lot of transcripts to go through at the end of application cycles so sending them earlier is ideal. You can always send a follow up transcript later to get the grades updated. Also you don't want any transcripts getting loss in the mail without having time to send another one. I personally sent my transcript last second and regretted it, as it took a few weeks for them to show up under my NCAS and I was worried that they would get loss in the mail.

Your TEAS score looks fine, but I am pretty sure you could get a higher score if you took it again and it wouldn't hurt to raise it to an 80% at least.

My stats : ( waitlisted for fall )

3.4 overall

3.6 prereq

3.6 science

84% TEASV
