You said you submitted your nursingcas application and received your supplemental application the next day, is that correct? Is that even possible since nursingcas and utmb does not have your gpa calculated yet.?

Hey all! I am also applying to UTMB this Fall! My stats are

Pre Req GPA: 3.81

Science: 3.75

TEAS: 88

I sent my transcripts from UH on January 2nd and submitted my NursingCAS app January 7th. I'm starting to get a little bit concerned because my transcript has not been received by NursingCAS and it's been about a week since I mailed it out. I'm not sure if that's because I sent it through mail and not electronically? I'm hoping NursingCAS gets my transcript soon or I may just call them.

Here are my timeline dates for submission

Dec. 15th - Submitted NursingCAS Application

Trans #1 mailed on 12/19, Marked as received by NCAS on 12/27

Trans #2 mailed on 01/02, Marked as received by NCAS on 01/03

Now waiting on verification and GPA calculations so they can submit to UTMB and then receive the supplemental application from them. I read it takes about a week for them to do the GPA calculation and verification. Here are my stats:

GPA: 3.73

Science: 4.0

TEAS: 78% Advanced

Yes it is possible. I never said NursingCAS or UTMB didn't have my gpa calculated yet. I know for sure NursingCAS had all they needed from me way before hand. And I don't know about UTMB but I had set up a meeting with the admissions advisor and she filled out a form with all my stats on it. Idk what exactly she did with it though. But yes it is even possible. I had everything filled out and submitted to NursingCAS months ago. I'm just watching the MyStar status now.

Hey, yall! I have a question about the GPA's.. For the science GPA, is it only pre-requisite science classes that are calculated in it or ALL science classes ever taken?

I'm hoping it's pre-requisites only because I have so many non pre-requisite science courses that I did terrible in.

BTW, I took my TEAS a few days ago and I made a 90.7%. However, I have no idea what classes to include for my GPA calculations. But my cumulative GPA is under 3.0.

EDIT--I just went through the first couple pages of this thread and I am ALSO a UT AUSTIN ex-student. LOL! That school was the devil to me and my GPA. ):

@gaca111: I keep checking my application on nursingcas to see if they have updated my gpa. It prob doesn't help, but I know they were closed for a couple of days last week because of the weather, so they might be backed up from that and the holidays. I would try calling them to see if they have your transcripts or are indeed behind. My transcript was received 12/30 and the GPA has yet to be calculated. Also, what is your first choice for schools?

@inspiredbynavy: Awesome TEAS score! WTG! For the science GPA, I would assume prereq, but that is a question to ask UTMB. I have emailed someone at UTMB back and forth a few times about seeing if certain classes counted or not, and they are super-nice.

Is anyone also applying to HBU?

Ahh.. Well then, I did not know they were closed last week. That may explain why they haven't gotten my transcript. They might be backed up. My first choice is UTHealth

I too applied to UT health Houston. I'm pretty sure I'm not getting into that one so I have high hopes for UTMB. I would not mind living on an Island next to the beach. Would be a huge change in scenery for me. :) And thank you. Not to boast or anything, but I'm really surprised that my TEAS is among the highest because I didn't think it was hard at all. If anyone needs tips in the future on how to prepare for it, send me a message.

Does anyone know if there were people with really low GPA's (under 3.0 cumulative) that got in in the past? Hoping my TEAS score will compensate for my low GPA.

I spoke to someone at UTMB and they told me that they won't send the supplemental application until you have been verified in NursingCas. In order to be verified in NursingCas they have to have your GPA calculations completed. UTMB also told me that they don't actually even receive anything from NursingCas until you are verified.

It states on the UTMB page somewhere that a historically competitive overall GPA is 3.3, and also at least 78% in each TEAS V section.

I spoke to a man at NursingCAS yesterday and he said it usually takes them between 3-4 weeks to calculate your GPA and to update it on your application. He also told me how long it would take them for application specifically, like exactly how many applications were in front of mine and what not!

So if you've submitted the NursingCAS application but have not received the supplemental application before deadline, is the application not considered?? Thanks!
