I would like to start a thread for UTMB FALL 2014 since there I cannot find one. I am in the process of applying and this is the only school I am applying to. Right now, I just trying to finish my personal statement before I can submit it. I am a bit nervous and excited at the same time. So, how is everyone else doing?
They let you take the test as many times as you want but take the highest score but still look at your other attempts. That's what they've been telling me for months, at the info session and when I made an appointment to have a one on one meeting with the admissions office. But it's also not all about who has the highest score. It's based on your personal statement as well as if you have a previous degree they will look at that also. If you go back and look at the 2013 thread for utmb admission, same time last year, there's a lot of info on there if you can look past all the "I think they" speculation comments. And people who had high GPA's and scores were wait listed or didn't get in and more average scores got acceptance. So they take a lot of high scores yes and it's very competitive but they take a number of things into consideration and it all depends on the applicant pool for the application period. Either way, fingers crossed. And if there is someone out there just reading and not replying because they don't think their scores and GPA are good enough, don't loose hope. Go back and look at who was accepted on that thread or who got taken off wait list and accepted. You never know. Never give up.Well that's good! Someone in my information session just asked that question, and they responded with "We look at both scores." But it makes more sense for them to look at the higher score, especially since they allow you to take it twice. The answer you received seems more reasonable.

^Yes this is similar to what I heard also, regarding TEAS scores. Someone specifically asks at my session: "I took the TEAS twice, will you take the highest score?" which they responded with "We look at both." Saying they will look at other attempts at the test.
@Bg123: This is contrary to what you were told. However, did you see a huge increase/decrease in your scores?
@Texas02: I definitely agree it is not about who has the highest scores or highest GPA. I looked through past years threads too. UTMB takes in consideration you as a person, and also takes in account "real life." That is what makes UTMB so unique compared to other top nursing schools in Texas! (: I definitely second: "And if there is someone out there reading and not replying because they think their scores and GPA are not good enough, don't lose hope." SO TRUE.
Yes! I called to check because mine aren't processed either. He reassured me that that's out of my control if it's like a week late but just follow up on the transcripts just in case they never arrive. If you want to check yourself you should call, they are very helpful!
Thank you SO much for this information! I think I may give NursingCAS a call either tomorrow or Friday to check the status of my transcript. It's been almost a week since I mailed out my transcript.
I have everything done in NursingCAS just feeling hesitant about submitting because of my personal statement. My past has several withdraws (six) and failures (five) from my previous unrelated degree. All of my pre-reqs for nursing are A's with the exception of one B in microbiology lecture. Is anyone else in a similar situation? Did you address your previous academic shortcomings? I have read a lot of conflicting information on how to handle this in the personal statement.

I am in the same situation as you. When I was a freshman, I did not take classes serious, my first semester of college GPA was 1.89. I also have like six withdraws. So, I try to explain this in my personal statement.
Is any re-applicant changing up their personal statement or just leaving it the way it was? I have thought of changing mine a little but what I wrote before still stays true. Any suggestions or tips as to whether or not one should submit it unchanged? All are welcome to contribute.
My best friend got in the program this spring, and she read over my personal statement. I have 5 withdrawn classes for last spring, and had to explain that in my statement. She pointed out that it was really good how I explained how I have grown from my bad experiences. She said they like to see that. So if you didn't do that in your original statement, you might want to. Just a suggestion. (:
So I'm on the UTMB website. The anxiety is making my stomach knot. 3-6 weeks of our applications being processed through enrollment services and then another 4-6 weeks for office of admissions to determine our future. I wonder if that's starting from the Jan 15 deadline which would push it back even more. So just over 12 weeks if it takes the maximum amount of time! :-/ I need to find something to study to preoccupy me, or the waiting will drive me nuts. It feels weird not being in school right now.
Hi Everyone!
I submitted my application through NursingCAS and my transcripts were received and application completed on 12/30. I still have yet to receive my supplemental application. Is anyone else in this boat?
I have also applied to UTHSC.
Here are my stats:
GPA: 3.8
Science: 4.0
TEAS V: 84.7
Hesi A2 (UTHSC): 92.9
Does anyone know when the early application cutoff was? And where all is everyone applying?
Good luck yall!
