I would like to start a thread for UTMB FALL 2014 since there I cannot find one. I am in the process of applying and this is the only school I am applying to. Right now, I just trying to finish my personal statement before I can submit it. I am a bit nervous and excited at the same time. So, how is everyone else doing?
Well, when I went in to wait for my interviewer to arrive they asked if I planned to move to the island. So I'm pretty sure everyone who wanted one received the packet of apartments. Not to diminish your hopes or anything. I don't think you should be worried though after only two weeks. I do understand your nervousness! I feel it too.
Hey y'all I have been following this thread for a while and thought I would chime in on the waiting game. I figure it might make me less antsy. I had my interview on the 14th of March and have heard nothing. I wasn't quite sure how my interview was going but at the end my interview reassured me that it went pretty good. I wouldn't say I have the best stats but I do have a Bachelor's Degree in Health form Texas A&M. I am hoping we all hear something soon :)
Goodluck to all.
I just had my interview today, and I think it went ok. I got a bit nervous when talking. I wish I had talk more about my personal statement. Anyway, they said 2-4 weeks before I hear back from them. Good luck those who are still waiting.
Just think of it as this way, you were called in for an interview, so you already made the BIG cut! And about being nervous, I am sure we all were nervous. Stay positive and GOOD LUCK EVERYONE
Gah! Still not a word and it's 2 weeks ago today. I've missed the deadlines for TWU and UTH. I got a big scholarship to UTH, but I have to start this fall, and the nursing program starts next summer (if I even get in!) so I'd have to borrow to take classes I don't need to use the scholarship. HBU won't even consider me until I've completed this semester, which is the last of my prereqs. I haven't even done my FAFSA for this year because I don't know where I'm going. If anywhere.
The interviewer did say that they're interviewing through the end of March, so maybe they're waiting for that process to finish before they decide? Still, I hate NOT knowing either way.
Sorry for the vent, but thanks for reading!

When you said scholarship, did you mean grant? I wasn't aware you could get a scholarship without first being accepted to the school.
I was admitted to the university, but I still have to apply to the nursing program. At least that's how I understand it. Anyway, I got a 40k scholarship, which is $10k a year. Tuition is 19k, so I'd still have to borrow if I don't get anymore scholarships, plus I have to start the university this fall. Even if I'm not in the nursing program.
It's so confusing. I'm calling and setting an appointment tomorrow to visit. My transcript review shows that all of my pre-reqs from HCC are transferable, so that's good! Still, 4 semesters at $9k a pop is A LOT of money!
So I emailed a student advisor to clarify about GPAs. She said if you retake a class, UTMB takes the higher grade and calculates it into your GPA. When I first applied and asked this question, someone else told me they only average. So I'm a bit confused as to who is right.. Also i read on the previous thread that you can only retake two prerequisites, but I couldn't find that anywhere on the catalog? Does anyone know?
Your overall gpa is calculated with everything, including retaken courses. Your prereq and science gpas are calculated with the higher betweem two retaken courses. At least that id how I understood it.
As far as limits on retaking courses, utmb has a "am I a competitive applicant pdf" and it just says you are competitive if you have not retaken more than two prereqs. I don't remember a limit on retaking courses.
Hi everyone. I've been creeping on this feed for about a month now and finally got around to making an account because I'm in a sticky situation! Now I'm about to ask you all something and I ask tun to reply with complete honesty! If you were to have to choose between UTHSCSA nursing program and UTMB's program (keep in mind it's A 15 month program) which would you choose? Oh and I have a third option... The university I am currently at (Texas Lutheran University, a small private liberal arts school) is starting a BRAND new BSN program this fall (traditional 2 year program).... I don't know which route to take if all prove to be open to me!
A little background... I am from Houston originally, am currently in Seguin (near San Marcos), and want to end up working in the Austin area.
thank you all so much!

If the interviewer said they are no longer conducting interviews after March, what does that mean for the people who never got interviews?

The reason I say that ^ is because my interviewer told me I did "very well" and I also received the packet of apartments and stuff, so that is what is making me think they are just taking forever to respond back to me (and still gives me hope). I feel my stats are pretty good, so who knows! I feel there is no method to their madness!
