HI! I am applying for the traditional BSN program at UTMB that starts Fall 2012. I am taking my TEAS this friday and I wanted to know if anyone else here is applying for the same semester. Hopefully there are others so I don't have to be nervous alone!! :D

My mystar still says incomplete and i called and got the same response. I got the early admit email so u should not worry if they told u that they are just waiting on the grades from ur current classes. If they looked it up they should have told u if they had everything else (Teas score, transcript, etc...). If this is the case then no worries!!

readyforutmb - Did your account change on the admission status page? I am just curious. I know that I am not gonna get one of those emails, but I do hope to get an interview email! Congrats again to each of you who have already been accepted. I am going to tomorrow's info session in the hopes to have a light shed on the application/interview/admittance process.

It took 5 months before I was invited for an interview - so don't be alarmed if it takes a while. Good luck to everyone :)

Hemphia- My mystar account still says incomplete for the courses in progress even though it also had an accept admission on it. when i called they said it is ok i had turned in everything even my fall semester grades, i just have to turn in my spring semester grades for the classes i am in now.

does that answer ur question?

Good Afternoon Everyone! Today's Open House was so very informative. I am gonna share with everyone what I learned today. If there are other questions that you have, just post. I am sure that I have the answer if it was asked, etc.

UTMB as of 3 or so weeks ago will no longer have a summer break in the BSN program. The program is now 4 semesters with no break! Yay... that means that if accepted we will all be finishing up and graduating in Fall 2013!!

This semester they have received about 1200 applications, but that is for ALL the programs they offer. For the Traditional BSN they have gotten around 650-700 and that about 75 or so will be incomplete. That means our odds have gone up! Yay!!

But unlike UTHSC they are only accepting 110 students for Fall 2012. And then about 20-35 students are waitlisted, just in case.

They are not done though sending out the early admits into the program. Approximately about 10% of the students will be admitted this way. The remaining will be filled through the interview process. She did say that they will interview approximately 200-250 students.

The way our GPA's are calculated are not like UTHSC either. They are no longer looking at pre-reqs and Science GPA's individually to determine eligibilty. They will be looking at your overall GPA. EEK!!! But if the class was taken 5 years ago, and you retook it for a better grade, then they don't calculate that original grade into the overall GPA. BUT if you took a class and then retook that class since 2007 then both grades are calculated into your GPA. They apparently also include other classes that you have taken that may not apply to the program..... Depending on a person this could be good and bad!

If you waited till the last weekend to submit your application then it may take a while for everything to be input. They have to input all your grades manually unless your school sends transcripts via Speed (spelling??). If they just submit them via internet OR mail them then it takes a while.

Now here is the biggest question of all..... the one we ALL want answered. When will they be starting interviews????? The answer I was told was Feb 27th should be when the first round of interviews occurs. YAY!!! So hopefully we don't have to wait forever for our interviews. But just because you didn't make the first round doesn't mean that you won't get in.

I am excited because I may have gotten some really great news today. I am waiting though to share because I don't want to jinx it. I should know something by Wed of this next week, and at that time I will let everyone know what it is regardless of what I hear...... :D

Yes that is a for sure... 100%!!!! They opted to change the program up and it will become effective for Fall 2012 applicants!

Thanks Hemphia. That is awesome news about skipping the summer and finishing earlier. It was the only reason why I favored UTHSC over UTMB. Do they offer many classes online?

Jaybird2009 - I'm unsure about how much is offered online. I believe it is minimal for the traditional, if any at all. But the RN-BSN program is ALL online.

I have a friend who is in the program right now and he said that you spend most every day at the school, unless your at clinicals. Because you still will have lab simulations, and then you will probably be involved in a study group. They are VERY serious about grades. Anything below a 75 is failing in thier eyes. If you fail 2 classes then you are AUTOMATICALLY removed from the program. They said that the test at the end of the semester is HIGHLY important. If you make 100's through the whole semester and then get a 74 on the final test, then they said that is failing! Just an FYI
