UTMB Fall 2011 Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hi everyone! Just thought I'd start a thread for those who are applying to UTMB for Fall 2011. There are some really great (and long!) threads out there for Spring 2011 and earlier...but as I'm sure y'all know, the application process can change from cycle to cycle, plus it's just nice to have a new thread for us. :) So feel free to post questions, comments, or anything related to applications!

I'm applying as a second-degree student to UTMB, UTHSC, TWU (Houston), UT Arlington and A&M, plus maybe the new Texas State program. Whew! :eek: I keep hearing great things about UTMB so that might be my #1....

A question to start us off: so we can now use either the centralized NursingCAS application, or the application through UTMB, right? :uhoh3: What are you all going to do? I'm thinking of just doing UTMB's direct application....if you do NursingCAS, I think you'll have to do a supplemental UTMB application+fee anyway, so you might as well just do it all once...thoughts?

So next week we should hear from you. I am afraid I can not register for my only class left in the summer if they do not answer back soon.

Where did all those stars come from in my post ???? Um @TX from what I got from the conversation it's anyone who has yet to hear anything at all. If I were you and you interviewed prior to last Monday I would definitely call and ask specifically stating how long ago you interviewed.

@brownEye y can't u register for the class?

I called the School of Nursing Office of Student Affairs and Admissions around 2PM today and the lady told me "we will have everything out by the END OF NEXT WEEK." I asked if that was everyone regardless of when they interviewed and she said "yes, everyone will know something by the end of next week." I asked how we would be notified and she said "email if you were accepted and correspondence if you were not accepted." So if you haven't heard anything yet keep your hopes up!

If they answer me back by the end of next week, I have to take Soci 1301 from July to August but I went on vacation on 8/3 with my extended family. I am pretty much stuck. If I got rejected from utmb, then I will apply to other schools which do not require Sociology. What should I do?

hey... i didn't get an interview... it was all interesting to me because I had a great GPA, high TEAS V score... who knows...

Register for the class now because if you do get in you HAVE to have the class. You can always drop the class if u get rejected. It' s better to be safe than sorry.

Question for those who got into UTMB. I am a Spring 2012 applicant and I just took my TEAS and got the 75 which I thought was competitive right? So I call to make sure and the lady tells me I am not competitive because I got a 54 in the science part of TEAS and that they look at the overall score and science part. I was not told this before, so my question is: anyone get accepted with a low TEAS science score (which my 54 is above the national average by the way, and not too bad since I have never had Biology, AP2 and Micro)? Thanks for anyones help/input. I am feeling very discouraged right now.:confused:

I agree, register and take it, it's not a hard class by any means(at least not to me) and your probably going to need it in the long run anyways.

I'd probably take it again to be honest - take if after you've completed at least 2 more of the science classes - AP2 and Micro. Are you planning on taking Biology as one of your pre-reqs? If you still need a science elective, I highly recommend taking patho - yes, you'll have to repeat it again your first semester at UTMB, but you'll have a fabulous foundation for the class, more so than you'd get from Biology.

You can wait until the last minute to take your test - I took mine 9 days before the application deadline to make sure I had enough of my science class in me for the test - I just had to hound the school to make sure my results were in my file.

FWIW - I got a 79 on my test too, but my science was a 75 - My AP1 grade was a C (from '00 my first semester in college), My AP2 was an A, micro was a B, and Patho was an A - so I don't doubt that my grades helped counter-balance the kinda low science score from my TEAS.

Best of luck - you may want to invest in some extra patience once you do apply - it can be a long, frustrating process (as shown in these 70+ pages!!)
