Hi everyone! Just thought I'd start a thread for those who are applying to UTMB for Fall 2011. There are some really great (and long!) threads out there for Spring 2011 and earlier...but as I'm sure y'all know, the application process can change from cycle to cycle, plus it's just nice to have a new thread for us. :) So feel free to post questions, comments, or anything related to applications!
I'm applying as a second-degree student to UTMB, UTHSC, TWU (Houston), UT Arlington and A&M, plus maybe the new Texas State program. Whew! I keep hearing great things about UTMB so that might be my #1....
A question to start us off: so we can now use either the centralized NursingCAS application, or the application through UTMB, right? What are you all going to do? I'm thinking of just doing UTMB's direct application....if you do NursingCAS, I think you'll have to do a supplemental UTMB application+fee anyway, so you might as well just do it all once...thoughts?
Hey Butterfulygarza21, I had the same thing happen to me except I have not interviewed or gotten accepted (yet). I called an some how my TEAS score never reached UTMB? Come to find out UTMB lost it and I had to resend it today!! Just call and double check everything on Monday. I'm sure you are fine.

For those of you who have been accepted. Have any of y'all been able to accept the offer through MyStar? I've already sent in my letter saying I accept the offer and have e-mailed Liz. Just wondering.
I'm going to move to the island. Thinking about the ferry apartments. Either that or the dorms (if theres no other choice) lol are u moving or commuting?

Yes I'm looking for a roomate! Do u kno if the rent includes gas electric and Internet? If so I'm definitely leaning towards the ferry apartment
I have a friend at UTMB right now and she said there are better apartments on the West Beach side of the island. They are gated, the area is safer, and there are shops such as Kroger and Wal Mart. They are pretty affordable as well ($600 - $800).
West end apartments are generally more expensive than the east end ones..
It has been a number of years since I've lived on the island, but there are a ton of cheap apartments on the West end. Also, there are a number of places for rent on Craigslist that are reasonably cheap. Since the storm, most places seemed to have cleaned up or been knocked down for new structures. There aren't many places there that I don't feel safe.
I am still waiting to hear from UTMB. Not sure if its the past part of my transcript or anything else. I am wishing, hoping and praying to get in. I have worked so hard over the past two years. Hopefully it shows. Reading this thread has helped me a lot. Also, talking to my friend who goes to UTMB now helped. She said that her best friend got her interview the day before school started and started with her. Does anyone know if they send you a waitlist letter or do all rejections get waitlisted?
