Hi everyone! Just thought I'd start a thread for those who are applying to UTMB for Fall 2011. There are some really great (and long!) threads out there for Spring 2011 and earlier...but as I'm sure y'all know, the application process can change from cycle to cycle, plus it's just nice to have a new thread for us. :) So feel free to post questions, comments, or anything related to applications!
I'm applying as a second-degree student to UTMB, UTHSC, TWU (Houston), UT Arlington and A&M, plus maybe the new Texas State program. Whew! I keep hearing great things about UTMB so that might be my #1....
A question to start us off: so we can now use either the centralized NursingCAS application, or the application through UTMB, right? What are you all going to do? I'm thinking of just doing UTMB's direct application....if you do NursingCAS, I think you'll have to do a supplemental UTMB application+fee anyway, so you might as well just do it all once...thoughts?
Hey Tiki, I didn't know you got into PVAMU, congratulations! My interview went well...I think. It is always so hard to judge what someone thinks of your answers. My interviewer was not aware anyone had been admitted and said all admissions decisions would be made at the end of the month. Fingers crossed that you get an interview at UTMB!

Thanks for the update. The assistant dean is checking the status of my application today. If I do not get in, I will start at PVAMU and hopefully transfer to UTMB in Spring. PVAMU is 2 1/2 years (5 semesters). I wish you the best of luck!
I'll be kind and give up my spot... well, the one I may or may not have (since they are so screwed up around there)
By the time they make up their minds, I'll be neck deep in the LVN-RN transition program that sent me an acceptance just about an hour ago :yeah:

Congrats! At least you know you have a spot somewhere. UTMB was my only app this time. In the fall I will take the shot gun approach and lock up several spots around the state while I ponder my options.

I was going to attempt that approach should I have failed this time! Very excited that I have a shot somewhere, just still wish it had been my first choice school. Oh well, beggars can't be choosers!
Now I just really have to focus on not blowing off Patho - she makes that easy to do :) My new classes start 2 days after that final - so much for my summer :)
Is anyone thinking about commuting from Houston? I know clinicals start mid semester and we can do them in Houston so I'm thinking about commuting. So I'm interested in knowing who would be up for carpooling!
