UTMB Fall 2011 Applicants

Published

Hi everyone! Just thought I'd start a thread for those who are applying to UTMB for Fall 2011. There are some really great (and long!) threads out there for Spring 2011 and earlier...but as I'm sure y'all know, the application process can change from cycle to cycle, plus it's just nice to have a new thread for us. :) So feel free to post questions, comments, or anything related to applications!

I'm applying as a second-degree student to UTMB, UTHSC, TWU (Houston), UT Arlington and A&M, plus maybe the new Texas State program. Whew! I keep hearing great things about UTMB so that might be my #1....

A question to start us off: so we can now use either the centralized NursingCAS application, or the application through UTMB, right? :uhoh3: What are you all going to do? I'm thinking of just doing UTMB's direct application....if you do NursingCAS, I think you'll have to do a supplemental UTMB application+fee anyway, so you might as well just do it all once...thoughts?

I'll be kind and give up my spot... well, the one I may or may not have (since they are so screwed up around there)

By the time they make up their minds, I'll be neck deep in the LVN-RN transition program that sent me an acceptance just about an hour ago :yeah::yeah:

:hpygrp:

Yay!!!! Go punky!! :yeah::yeah::yeah:

is anyone else thinking about moving to the island?

I got in too!!! I was out all day, just got home and checked---the email came in around 4:30 like the rest of you. Congrats to everyone getting such wonderful news (special shout-out to Punkydoodles, I'm really happy for you!)

TWU's response is due Friday so I'll be using my day off tomorrow to decide :) If I do UTMB, like I said my interviewer suggested moving to somewhere in between Galveston and Houston---but really, I don't see it being all that much cheaper, and that just means I have to commute two ways instead of one! We do have confirmation that they'll mostly give you clinicals near where you live, right? In that case I'd plan to move to the island. Looking at one of the apts right by the school....or perhaps a garage apt or something.

i plan to move out there to the island and come back on the weekends. I have a friend that started in the spring and thats how she does it.

Come back on the weekends...meaning for Saturday clinicals? Or just recreationally? :)

Can y'all give some suggestions on where y'all are looking at apartments? I'm looking for something reasonable and I guess a roommate would be nice. :) Thanks and congrats to everyone who was accepted! Can't wait until the fall!

im in the same boat! im not sure where to look, im open to all options right now. and im considering a roommate as well. Either that or get an efficiency apartment which is just a bedroom with a restroom. to eat study and sleep haha!

I still haven't heard anything! I will be ok if I'm the third round haha... waiting is horrible though

Yeah, I want something affordable and with everything I would need. It would be great if there was internet included as well. Lol. I prefer living on my own, but then again, a room mate wouldn't be too bad. Plus the cost will be much cheaper. I was going to look at apartments soon, but decided to wait until July that way I can look and lease and find a better deal then. I was looking for the Clear Lake or League City area, but at this point I'm even considering living on the island so I wouldn't have to commute far to school. I could manage traveling a bit for clinicals since it's only once or twice a week.

Good luck on getting in everyone! Ya'll were looking for apartments? Check out Ferry Road apartments, they are the schools and super cheap and include utilities, my three bedroom is 750 all bills paid not with internet.

Out of curiosity, do you have the link?

It's not showing up when I google it.
