Hi everyone! Just thought I'd start a thread for those who are applying to UTMB for Fall 2011. There are some really great (and long!) threads out there for Spring 2011 and earlier...but as I'm sure y'all know, the application process can change from cycle to cycle, plus it's just nice to have a new thread for us. :) So feel free to post questions, comments, or anything related to applications!
I'm applying as a second-degree student to UTMB, UTHSC, TWU (Houston), UT Arlington and A&M, plus maybe the new Texas State program. Whew! I keep hearing great things about UTMB so that might be my #1....
A question to start us off: so we can now use either the centralized NursingCAS application, or the application through UTMB, right? What are you all going to do? I'm thinking of just doing UTMB's direct application....if you do NursingCAS, I think you'll have to do a supplemental UTMB application+fee anyway, so you might as well just do it all once...thoughts?
I'm a current student and our professor told us today they are accepting 120 students for fall. Also, I remember people that were on the waiting list get accepted during orientation.
Congrats to all who got in so far!! You will have a great experience here and will learn A LOT! our professors are amazing and our degree will come with a lot of positive reputation!
I'm a little worried now... it's already mid-April. If they only have 120 seats and a lot of you guys have been accepted by now, I'm sure my chance is really low. Does anyone know when they'll send out waitlist/ rejection letters? Is the end of April or early May? My overall GPA is 3.54 and my science GPA is 3.5... I made a 87 on the TEAS.
PAMQ it took them a month from when SON got my application to when I got a call for an interview. You know they have your packet so that is half the battle. Do not get discouraged, many people who got into UTMB also got into other schools and may chose those admissions over UTMB. Your scores are good. They have said that all letters will go out by the end of the April. In past threads, people were getting admitted into the summer.
Congrats on those who got accepted and good luck to those who are still awaiting. Like another person said before Ferry Rd apartments are really cheap for those looking to save money. They are not the greatest in the world but I really do not mind with how low of a price I pay. Internet is really cheap especially if one of the companies is running a deal. For those of you who will be coming to UTMB I will see you at your orientation! :)
Got a call around 9 this morning and they left a voice mail wanting an interview next Monday @ 1015. I wasn't able to call back until 4 and had planned on asking if there was another day/time as I had CPR class from 8-12 that day and my card expires this month.
I was told that that was the only option as the committee would be voting on those interviewed on Monday afternoon. I then asked when we'd be notified (didn't explain why, but I have to let the transition program know by 4-19) She said they would phone/email those accepted by Tuesday around noon.
And I still maintain that their entire system is screwed up. Big time.
And I will likely not be accepting admission - still flip flopping on an AAS or BSN. Just hate to not try, ya know?
And I was told that my packet went to the SON on 3/26.

She didn't specifically say, but I took it as such since she said that voting was done the same day as the interviews. I just wanted to make sure I had something solid from them before I made a decision on the other school.

I completely understand what you mean. If your other school doesn't need an answer by the evening and if you want to go to UTMB (you seemed eager to go in previous posts ), I would do the interview and see how it goes.
If it turns out no bueno (doubt it!), then oh well. If you get accepted, you have a quick decision to make.
It's not like you're accepting the admission and taking up someone's spot because the admission acceptance is just pending.
That's just what I would do though! If you really want to go to the other school, then power to you!

Wish it had a CLEP. I hate going to that class!!
