Hi everyone! Just thought I'd start a thread for those who are applying to UTMB for Fall 2011. There are some really great (and long!) threads out there for Spring 2011 and earlier...but as I'm sure y'all know, the application process can change from cycle to cycle, plus it's just nice to have a new thread for us. :) So feel free to post questions, comments, or anything related to applications!
I'm applying as a second-degree student to UTMB, UTHSC, TWU (Houston), UT Arlington and A&M, plus maybe the new Texas State program. Whew! I keep hearing great things about UTMB so that might be my #1....
A question to start us off: so we can now use either the centralized NursingCAS application, or the application through UTMB, right? What are you all going to do? I'm thinking of just doing UTMB's direct application....if you do NursingCAS, I think you'll have to do a supplemental UTMB application+fee anyway, so you might as well just do it all once...thoughts?
Same here, except that it is my top choice. I applied to one other school and haven't heard from them either. I too applied straight from their site. And I hope I can get an answer if I'm rejected. No sense applying over and over when you don't know what's wrong.
I still don't understand why they can't notify the absolute No applicants at the beginning.
Don't give up on your interview just yet! There is still time. But i do agree with you about telling those who they're not even considering that its a NO. UTMB is also my number one choice. I only applied to one other school but its about 3 times more expensive to go there. I interviewed this week but i'm not very confident about how it went. all i can do now is pray!!

dont worry. i wasnt confident about my interview and i got accepted! i was very surprised. lol my interviewer even told me i shouldn't have answered one of the questions the way that i did. You'll do fine! =)

Yes, I confirmed your application is complete and was forwarded to the School of Nursing on 3-26-2011. The SON will notify you if you are selected for an interview.
I JUST got off the phone with UTMB's Nursing enrollment services. She said that they get applicants in batches and that they are still going through them. She also said that everyone should be notified by the beginning of May, so us waiting still have a lot of time! So if we don't hear anything by next week, there's still time, and it won't be the end of us! (Hold onto hope, Punky!)
Also, I asked her about NursingCas and their applications not being reviewed yet, but she said that's not the case...? She said that those applications are downloaded and they had no problems with it?? No clue what's going on there.
She also explained the reason for their delay this year is because they just switched to a new system and they are trying to get used to it and whatnot. In case yall were wondering why is is different/taking so long this year.
I'd be happy to get into either school. I live in Clear Lake and I think I'd prefer to commute to Galveston everyday instead of the Medical Center.. I really can see your dilemma. If you lived closer into town, I'd probably pick TWU. As it is for me, a hop on 45-S and it's an easy, realitively traffic free drive to the Island.
Punky- if you don't get in (I'm still praying for ya!) where are you going to apply for the spring? I'm thinking UTH (wonder how good the chances are there if UTMB doesn't take me?), UTMB again (and not hold my breath), TWU and possibly PVAM (though I will need to retake college algebra *ug!* and possibly another speech class as it looks like they might not accept my Interpersonal Communications class for it)... I'm also thinking I'll apply to COM and maybe Lee as back ups.
