Hi everyone! Just thought I'd start a thread for those who are applying to UTMB for Fall 2011. There are some really great (and long!) threads out there for Spring 2011 and earlier...but as I'm sure y'all know, the application process can change from cycle to cycle, plus it's just nice to have a new thread for us. :) So feel free to post questions, comments, or anything related to applications!
I'm applying as a second-degree student to UTMB, UTHSC, TWU (Houston), UT Arlington and A&M, plus maybe the new Texas State program. Whew! I keep hearing great things about UTMB so that might be my #1....
A question to start us off: so we can now use either the centralized NursingCAS application, or the application through UTMB, right? What are you all going to do? I'm thinking of just doing UTMB's direct application....if you do NursingCAS, I think you'll have to do a supplemental UTMB application+fee anyway, so you might as well just do it all once...thoughts?
not sure how you are confussed: according to the assistant dean if you have over a 70 teas and over 3.0 gpa you are a very strong candidate (only 88 people had this minimum). *** only 88 applicants had the combination of at least a 70 or higher on the teas and over a 3.0 gpa. *** utmb received over 1,200 applications for the fall for all 3 programs (bsn, rn-bsn, msn). only 88 of the applicants had over a 70 & a gpa of 3.0 or higher. they threw out 11 applications that were not complete. these were the first 77 people that were asked to interview. then they will start the 2nd cut of scores. she did not indicate what that cut would be.
they will also early accept into the bacc2 if you have a degree and a 3.5 or higher gpa for that degree.

How do you know if you were one of the 11 thrown out.... I revc'd an email that my statement was not submitted, (even though I had typed it in when I filled out my application) so I emailed it to them. The status on my application still says incomplete, so I was wondering if I was also disqualified, because of my supporting statement.

Because I contacted them after TIKI originally posted about the Open House meeting - I was well above the parameters reported, but hadn't had any contact - so I called. For whatever reason, they didn't pull my TEAS scores - so I had to sort it out with ATI - whom had NO record of me taking the test, even though I was looking at my scores while I was on the phone. UTMB told me that my application was incomplete and had been taken from the consideration pile. After an entire afternoon going back and forth, it was all straightened out. I then received 3 separate emails letting me know that my application would be re-evaluated for admission.... but that was *after* the first round of interviews had been notified.

Gabyhouston-I have the exact same problem. I have not contacted twu about it since i thought it was just in error, but it is still on my to do list. Have you spoke to anyone at twu about this?
I don't understand what's going on with my application. I'm well above those minimum qualifications but have heard nothing, and Mystar's always said my application is complete. When I emailed admissions I was basicalyl told that they're working on applications, and that's it...
@mjmoon: LOL, I also have a hard time believing that only 88 applicants meet that minimum! :)
At any rate, I'm pretty anxious. I think my past withdrawals and a few Fs are really, really going to hurt me...might email again just to check on things.

Mystar said complete the entire time too. I'd really call today and question!
I just called and spoke to someone in Admissions. First I mentioned that someone had heard during an info session about the 3.0/70 thing, and she said that's not accurate? Not sure what's up with that...hmm.
Anyway, she also told me that they're getting batches of applications from Enrollment services; she checked on mine and said it was in her pile for today, so it should be looked at during the next commitee meeting, and I'll hear something within 2 weeks.

what do you mean only 88 people had this minimum? that everyone else was below this? or that this is borderline? i'm confused.
