Hey guys! I have applied for the Spring 2010 Accelerated Bachelors degree at UTMB and had some questions for people that are currently enrolled in the program or are applying to the program as well. What is your overall GPA and science GPA? How many students do they accept? How many people apply to the accelerated program? Do they have interviews? How long does it take them to look through the applications? Any information would help! Thanks!:)
Hello All,
Although I only joined today, I have been reading this blog for its lifetime. I applied before the deadline, and up until today had heard NOTHING. After speaking with one of the ladies in the office yesterday telling me that all interviews were done being sent out, I knew something had to be wrong. I had her check the status of my application and when she pulled up my file, she realized that my application had been misread by Enrollment Services. They put that I had no science GPA, making CON see that i had an incomplete application. Therefore they never reviewed it. It was completely incorrect. I have had my prerequisites done since July 2! Frustrating, huh? needless to say, someone called me from their office today scheduling an interview with me on Friday at 2:30. Has anyone on this blog received their acceptance letter yet? I know two girls that interviewed on the 16th and we both accepted! Good luck all!
Hello all-
I just read all of your posts. I received my acceptance letter to the BACC2 program on Halloween but I have heard they send letters out as late as Thanksgiving. However, it did say in the letter that the deadline to accept the offer was Nov. 20. If you still have not received anything and you had an interview, I would call the school since time is running out. Good luck to everyone!

Hello!
Congrats to those who have started the accelerated program.
I have a general question about the accelerated and regular BSN program....are the classes online? how often do you have to go onto campus? what are the clinical schedules like? I live in beaumont (2hrs away). I was thinking if I only needed to be on campus 1 or 2x a week I can just commute.
Thanks!
Han630,
For the Bacc2 program you will probably go to campus about 3 times a week at the beginning of the semester and then about once a week once clinicals have started. They try to place students at hospitals close to where they live, but it depends on what is available. For the traditional program you will go to class about 3 times a week and have clinicals close to where you live. Hope this helps.
piggyland12,
i wondered the same thing about the teas so i emailed the school. below is the response i received from the recruitment coordinator/preadmission advisor:
"the teas exam is required for the traditional bsn program only. applications are not automatically rolled into the traditional if not accepted into the bacc2. if you feel you might not be competitive for the bacc2 program, i recommend you take the teas exam in case the admissions committee elects to include your application in the traditional applicant pool.
letters of recommendation are not required for the bsn applicants."

For those of you who interviewed, when did they say they'd get back to you? I swear the lady who I interviewed with said "2-3 days, I mean a week", but another person said 2-3 weeks, which sounds more likely, so I'm thinking I just misheard her. I think my interview went pretty well, at least it took a while, but I'm still waiting on pins and needles to find out.
